I'm not talking about what might be, I'm talking about the claim that Brady is (present tense) better than Montana.

Beady is NO Joe Montana... He is pretty good because of his defense and his field goal kicker(that he doesn't have anymore)... Brady couldn't beat the Colts who have the 21st Ranked Defense out of 32... New England's Defense is ranked 6th...

Total Defense

Indy's Offense is 3rd New England is 11th...

Total Offense

Brady gets credit that he isn't due...

Dungy's response to "What is it like to be an African American Coach ...? "I'm very proud, but this is about the Colts." Very Good.

Excellent response. Quite a refreshing change from the overinflation of Halle Berry's Oscar win and Nancy Pelosi's rise to Speaker of the House.

Berry acted as if she had struck a blow for black women as if another black actress hadn't won in recent years (Whoopi Goldberg won Best Supporting Actress for Ghost), and the lack of a black Best Lead Actress was troubling millions of African-American women coast to coast. Pelosi's probably the most underqualified, insignificant "first" in recent history, yet she invoked Susan B. Anthony in celebratory events of her election.

Back when a black QB was a rarity (remember, there were 2 in the NCAA "National Championship" Game), the now-defunct Sport magazine in 1975 had L.A. Rams QB James Harris on its cover. Read it carefully...

Check the record, SF had a great D during their SB run, that doesn't diminish Montana's career, BTW he had a couple of horrible playoff games over the course of his career.

Trying to compare Brady at this point in his career with Montana's entire career is unfair, however the FACTS are that Brady's first 6 years as a starter are the best in NFL history.

BTW Vinateri's replacement didn't miss a FG during the playoffs this year and was better on kickoff's in today's game.

I thought I would report from Tampa this morning.
I've watched the first news cycle, which included
some sports news. The coverage of the playoff games
has been terrible.

Tony Dungy had many years of great coaching in Tampa
and the Fox 13 sports team haven't reported much on the
game last night.

Had this been a New England win, we would have breaking
news and special reports. I can't say I'm surprised
just really disappointed in the local sports reporting.

I'm a life long Bears fan, and a Dungy supporter, this
is going to be a great Super Bowl for me to watch.

Believe me, it happened. It was just after he left Dungy and I said to myslef "Well, Belichick was classy there" when he blew by Peyton and clearly dissed him. Not nice at all.

Thanks for your thoughts. (She gets to stay home today. No school!)

What a game. It was the most exciting playoff game I have seen in a long time.

Both teams should be proud.

"12-2 for Brady as opposed to 9-5......"

Hey, what is this bs about the quarterback 'getting the win' like a starting pitcher in baseball? Rex Grossman 'got the win' yesterday too, and he looked like his usual mediocre self out there. His team 'got him the win', as does Brady's most of the time. What Manning did yesterday, while getting knocked on his ass the whole game, was a more difficult and impressive performance than anything I've ever seen Tom Brady give. Brady is a solid, efficient quarterback in a great situation. Nothing more. Guys like Montana were doing incredible things all during college and the pros. Brady was a sixth round pick out of Michigan, with no special resume' whatsoever. He dropped into a good situation with a well-coached team and has received way too much credit for its success.

Congratulations to the Colts and their fans!

Indeed!

And congrats to Payton too.

As one who thought he "couldn't do it", I am especially impressed with his performance after he threw the interception to go down 21-3.

One of the greatest performances in pro sports...IMO.

Tom Brady Vs. Joe Montana...

15 years (Montana) Vs. 6 years (Brady)

Passing yards...Montana=40,551 (avg. per year=2,704) Brady=21,564 (avg. per year=3,594..@15 year career=53,910)

Super Bowl Wins...Montana 4 over a 15 year career Brady 3 over a six year career

Touchdown passes..Montana=273 (avg. per year=18) Brady=147 (avg. per year=24...@15 year career=360)

Yes, Montana is a Hall Of Fame QB...But don't act as if it is unreasonable to compare Brady to Montana. Stats show Brady is the BETTER QB.

CASE CLOSED!

Brady did meet with Peyton after the game, before heading to the locker room. Just found the first picture of it (at least the caption says they met):

that had to rely on an obscure rule (Tuck Rule),p> It's only obscure in the sense that people didn't realize that the NFL had bothered to define the end of the passing motion in the rulebook. It's not like the rule where the ball can only be advanced on a fumble by certain players during certain parts of the game.
