For all of those having the Mac/PC debate...
I thought this was funny.
A small amount of bad language alert.
bump for later...
Funny.
Very well done. Funny.
thanks that was funny.....I am a current PC laptop owner wanting a MAC laptop
I was laughing out loud at that one, especially considering all those Mac commercials on TV lately.
"Why Macs Suck"
simple. it's a Mac.
The video has a penchant for being slightly more colorful, but yeah.
Haha! Thanks for that.. I just sent it to all the Mac geeks I know.
I'm a PC refugee now dedicated to Macs. I'll never go back to PC. Not in a long shot.
I am curious what others really think about this video. I am supposed to do a debate on macs versus PC.
I thought this video was fairly ridiculous in terms of the inaccurate representations it made. I am a big mac fan. I have had this link sent to me and had its contents emphasized to me rather emphatically by a PC devotee who is highly annoyed that Apple tries to promote the superiority of its products.
The problems in the video that I notice and wonder if anyone else saw anything of note are:
1. The speaker notes his constant need to use the apple period key combination to stop programs. A key combination that has not been in use on the mac for probably at least 5 years. It was a technique common to OS 9 which is no longer in use.
2. The video seems to show old models of apple computers. They do not seem to be current machines. I would estimate that they are also 4-8 years in age based on some old apples I have that seem similar.
3. The video is made on a mac which in my experience continues to be one of the most differentiating aspects of mac vs pc. I am rarely able to find regular PC users who are able to use their PC to make video. I know it is possible but it is one of the most common reasons I have observed PC users to switch.
4. I cannot recall ever losing a file in the way the video describes and I have used macs for close to 20 years. I remember having a corrupted file about 15 years ago and I was easily able to recover it with Norton utilities. I have had PC users tell me at some length how easy it is for their files to become corrupted and unintelligible. The video says casually "if you understand DOS . . " this is not a problem. That is a pretty serious issue to gloss over based on my experience with PC users.
Of course I store a bit of music on it too.
But I though it was funny and a well done parody of those Mac commercials.
Even Mac lovers, however misguided they are should laugh at themselves once in a while.
You know you are complete and total nerd when you get utterly pissed off when someone lampoons whatever computer you are using :o)
In other words, I think the guy is just making fun of the commercials that are constantly on the tube.
No problem.
I appreciate the point of humor as well.
Life on an apple is not always peachy.
I will not be disappointed if the thread remains light hearted-- that is a great freeper tradition.
I do have this assignment that is looming for me in a couple weeks and I thought I might glean some insights.
This guy is talking about Macs circa 1999.
I thought this was funny.
None of this is true since OS X and BSD Unix based operating systems. If this video were made 10 years ago it would have been funny. This came through a wormhole from the distant past: OS 7 or 8.
It's an old video. It's been around for years.
