President Bush on 60 Minutes

Posted on 01/15/2007 11:38:58 AM PST by headcase_1973

Did anybody catch President Bush on 60 Minutes last night? I missed it! I checked Rasmussen this morning, and President Bush's approval rating went up to 41%. How do you all think last night's interview went for the President? (Highlights, please.)

The 60 Minutes interviewer was an obnoxious, (Democrat) agenda-driven hack; conversely, the President looked and sounded like the confident, determined leader he is!

You can read the interview transcript and/or view snippets of the interview at
http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/60minutes/main3415.shtml

RASMUSSEN
The President's JA rating as measured by Rasmussen has risen since over the last two days because the Wednesday stats have 'rolled out of' the tally -- on Wednesday, Republicans/Republican-leaning Independents were watching the President's speech NOT responding to pollsters.

Additionally, during the MLK Holiday weekend, most Republicans/Republican-leaning Independents choose to stay home rather than travel, making them more available than usual to pollsters! [Typically, Friday and Saturday nights are the WORST polling nights for the President, which is, of course, why all the MSM pollsters survey only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon!

Awesome, thank you! I thank God that President Bush has tremendous backbone. The reporter stated in the interview that, as of late, polling has shifted, and that most servicemen disagree with the President's handling of the Iraq War. How true is that? This is the first I've heard of such a thing.

Only 60 Minutes would cite a NON-SCIENTIFIC poll taken by a magazine edited by leftists and definitely NOT affiliated with the military!!

I was particularly unimpressed. Combine this interview with the speech from last week and just about the last thing that I supported President Bush on (his prosecution of the WoT) is basically gone. What an incompetent fool that man is.

And the troops are starting to figure this out too:

Poll: U.S. troops lose confidence in Bush
United Press International
Jan. 2, 2007 at 4:10PM

U.S. soldiers are losing confidence in the way President George W. Bush is running the Iraq war.

According to a new poll conducted by the Military Times newspapers, "For the first time, more troops disapprove of the president's handling of the war than approve of it," the Army Times reported Dec. 29.

"Barely one-third of service members approve of the way the president is handling the war," the newspaper said.

The findings of the poll, which was conducted by a mail survey from Nov. 13 through Nov. 22, marked a significant fall in the president's popularity and credibility with members of the U.S. armed forces, who had previously been among his staunchest supporters. In a previous Military Times poll two years ago, 83 percent of poll expected victory in Iraq. "This year, that number has shrunk to 50 percent," the Army Times said.

"Only 35 percent of the military members polled this year said they approve of the way President Bush is handling the war, while 42 percent said they disapproved," the newspaper said. This marked a dramatic decline from the 63 percent who approved of his conduct of the war in the 2004 poll.

The paper noted that contrary to widely held assumptions, the president's popularity among the U.S. armed forces is now "only slightly higher than for the population as a whole."

The poll was the fourth to be conducted among active duty military subscribers to the Military Times newspapers. "The results should not be read as representative of the military as a whole," the Army Times said. "The survey's respondents are on average older, more experienced, more likely to be officers and more career-oriented than the overall military population."

Other than Ronald Reagan, Bush will go down as the greatest President in the last 100 years, if not ever.

Yes and yes. BUT did anyone else get angry and extremely offended at the interviewer repeated called him "Mr. Bush" ?

If I were in the Presidents shoes, or even one of the SS people who must have been in the immediate area, I'd have taken him to task on national tv!! And told him "That is Mr. President to you Sir"!

That is my complaint, also. Seems they have no problem still using "president" when they mention ex-presidents Carter and Clinton.

The results should not be read as representative of the military as a whole, yet that is just what you attempt to do.

And I'm sure your own high station in life marks you as more competent than the president. FOAD.

I feel it's more than a complaint, at least for me. And should be for others as well. The nerve of these in the media to do such of thing. They have no respect for their country, their President or even the office of the President. And thus, no respect for Americans either.

Say what you will about Conservatives, I have never seen that kind of total disregard for propriety, respect, and even common decency and manners, displayed toward ANY President, regardless of party affiliation. Not even Clinton, and he wasn't due any respect! But the Office ALWAYS is!

Bush was more relaxed and natural on 60 Minutes than he was during his Wed. speech. After watching the interview, I thought to myself "now THIS is the Bush I voted for." The Gov. from Texas who leads all, not just his voters.

When Bush ignored the MSM for years he also lost the support of folks like my dad, who, at age 75, will not venture into alternative media.
