PATS' SACK DANCE TICKS OFF TOMLINSON (Class Alert)
NY Post | 1/15/07 | Mark Cannizzaro

Posted on 01/15/2007 4:22:26 AM PST by beyond the sea

LaDanian Tomlinson, usually very mild-mannered, became incensed after the Chargers' 24-21 loss to the Patriots yesterday when some New England players began mocking Shawne Merriman's sack dance on the Chargers' logo.

"I was very upset," said Tomlinson, who went after some of the New England players. "I would never react that way. I'm a very, very classy person. When you go to the middle of a field and you're doing the dance that Merriman does, that's disrespectful to me and I can't sit there and watch that. It showed no class at all, and maybe that comes from their head coach."

Everyone in the house knew the Patriots' first priority yesterday was going to be trying to stop Tomlinson, who scored an NFL-record 31 touchdowns this season.

Tomlinson, though, came right out and gashed the Patriots' defense and did it repeatedly throughout the game, rushing for 123 yards and two TDs. In fact, Tomlinson was generally the Chargers' first option on almost every offensive series. Tomlinson gained 81 of his rushing yards on 10 first-down carries.

Which is why I was surprised Pedro wanted to go back to the NL.

I wish I had the presence of mind to listen to New England talk radio after a certain Week 14 game.

How badly are the San Diego guys taking it? Are they still kind of in denial about the whole affair? And now I wonder what Indy talk radio is saying...

He's the OC of the Jets and it's rumored the Dolphins might be interested in him.

It shouldn't affect Brian's shot at the job. Honestly, at this point I would like to see him get hired. Cameron has shown that he can't adapt a game plan.

Chan Gailey wouldn't be bad either. He took 2001's group of losers and turned them into the league's 8th ranked offense in terms of points scored.

Not entirely on him but he made some awful decisions as well.

How dare a Patriots player mimic a classless dance performed all the time by a Chargers player! I like LT, but Shawne Merriman is not worth taking up for.

God knows your team held on to a certain former coach way too long.

No. Hell f*cking no.

One: he likes to pass the ball. This would mean the 2007 Dolphins would have two talented RBs--Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams--who Martz would essentially use to warm the bench.

Two: he's expressed displeasure with Daunte Culpepper in his interview, and furthermore, he's responsible for pushing Joey Harrington out of Detroit. Well, guess which team has those two QBs on its roster?

Three: he's a total egomaniac, and is singlehandedly responsible for devastating the Rams. That means he's indirectly responsible for Scott Linehan's departure, which doesn't add to my like of him.

You know the Spanish phrase "no mas?" It tranlates to English as "no Martz." Regardless, the three finalists are Brian Schottenheimer, Chan Gailey, and Jim Mora, Jr. Don't ask me how Mora made it this far. He must be giving some amazingly good interviews.

Agree. If you dont do a dumb sack dance in the first place you wont get mocked.

What goes around comes around. Be a man LT. You lost.

He was taking up for Shawne Merriman, an individual without any class (hell, he's even a convicted cheater). LT needs to focus on supporting people who are worth it.

Cowher recommended Gailey for the Pittsburgh job as well.

That's my only problem with Huizenga: he waited until Wannstedt had finished raping the team before telling him to get out of the house.

But bringing in Saban was a good idea (even if Saban did bolt at the first sign of adversity he's largely responsible for), and I'm happy with two of the three finalists for the current coaching vacancy.

I take heart in the fact that it took Chicago six years to recover from Wannstache. We're only in year two of that project. There's still hope.

Let's face it the Pats played awful. They should have gotten beaten badly. There is no question SD was the better team all around,

Kordell, is that you??

At least you have a job coaches want. Then there are the really desperate ones who have to settle for Oakland.
