LaDanian Tomlinson, usually very mild-mannered, became incensed after the Chargers' 24-21 loss to the Patriots yesterday when some New England players began mocking Shawne Merriman's sack dance on the Chargers' logo.
"I was very upset," said Tomlinson, who went after some of the New England players. "I would never react that way. I'm a very, very classy person. When you go to the middle of a field and you're doing the dance that Merriman does, that's disrespectful to me and I can't sit there and watch that. It showed no class at all, and maybe that comes from their head coach."
Everyone in the house knew the Patriots' first priority yesterday was going to be trying to stop Tomlinson, who scored an NFL-record 31 touchdowns this season.
Tomlinson, though, came right out and gashed the Patriots' defense and did it repeatedly throughout the game, rushing for 123 yards and two TDs. In fact, Tomlinson was generally the Chargers' first option on almost every offensive series. Tomlinson gained 81 of his rushing yards on 10 first-down carries.
Yeah, never did figure that one out. The only knock I have against Sterling as an announcer is he tends to use the same "catch phrases" over and over.
Example: When describing a good play he will say "I like this, I really like this..." then he will describe play.
Its OK once in awhile but he does it much too often and it tires the ear quickly. But, that is something that can be "unlearned".
However, I fear there is no hope for Shannon and his many horrid speaking habits.
The Colts Defense? Hah! It's amazing how things change. Three weeks ago all the experts wrote off the Clts after that debacle against Jax and losing to the Titans. Now they put together two good games at the most crucial time, and suddenly they're great again.
Shannon Sharpe is the reason I can't stand to watch football on CBS. I like JB and Dan Marino, Boomer is okay, but Shannon Sharpe is a big loud mouth, he hasn't changed since retirement. Plus he can barely speak.
Does he ever pick against Denver or Baltimore?
They need to bring Deion back.
They'd been talking trash for weeks, Merriman the Roid head being the chief culprit, and they shut out the Pats' fans, they got what they deserved.
Yeah, I was sad to see him retire. I would have loved to see him on a team with an O-line like Emmitt Smith had. Of course maybe Sanders wouldn't have been that good with such. Many of his best runs were when the O-line broke down and let defenders into the backfield.
Back to the Chargers for a minute... there's a rumor that the Chargers are going after Pete Carroll.
Translation: "It's okay for my teammates to do a little dance to rub it in after a big play but it's not okay for anybody else."
Doubtful, and if he ever does I am going to reread Revelations, for surly such is a sign of the apocalypse!
Why? Did he do a disrespectful celebration dance as well? hahahah
He won't take an NFL job unless he's given total control.
Yeah, that's apparently the condition for him taking the job.
Well, that and a desired $7 million per year salary... I kid you not.
Uh...Deion? I'll take mush-mouht over him any day.
They've got a lot of growing up to do.
sorry, mush-mouth.
If he can't get an NFL job then he'll at least use it as leverage to get more money out of USC.
He's actually improved quite a bit I think since he's been on the NFL network.
LOL.
Yeah Deion is just about as bad at announcing as Shannon. though I did enjoy those Halloween skits he used to do using the little kids as NFL football players.
Deion: (to whimpering little kid acting as Tim Couch) "Sorry little Timmy, there is no crying in football..."
Priceless!
