(CBS13) SACRAMENTO A radio contest participant may have died of water intoxication, a press release from the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office said Saturday. The woman was discovered unresponsive by relatives in her home in Rancho Cordova Friday afternoon.
28-Year-Old Jennifer Lea Strange was declared dead by Sacramento Metro Fire Paramedics. Strange had reportedly competed in a contest held by local radio station 107.9 ‘The End’ earlier Friday that required contestants to drink large amounts of water without being able to go to the bathroom.
The preliminary investigation revealed no life threatening medical conditions to explain her sudden death. While the preliminary findings of the autopsy are consistent with water intoxication, the coroner says the final cause of death will not be available for several months.
"Several months" before final autopsy results? Why?
Lets review:
28 years old, multiple kids, yet lacking funds to buy a Wii.
No thought of saving for it, no, lets just drink a lot of water and not urinate until her electrolytes are diluted enough to stop her heart.
She didn't even leave her children a heroic story. For the rest of their lives they get to tell this wonderful tale and relive how stupid their mother was.
Paging Darwin...
How ironic that the station calls itself "The End"
Now I want to force myself to go urinate...
I wonder what the kids will do with their new radio station?
Okay, we'll sit here and wait for you. Make sure your aim is good! :P
Ten day waiting period on water?
You better not stand!
Dr Michael Baden of gretatube and OJ fame said she probably rinsed the sodium from her body and then died of cerebral edema.
(Kind of like deaths from heat shock when ya don't take your salt tablets in certain climates and occupations)
This is proof of the old maxim:
"The dose makes the poison."
Prayers for her poor kids. I can see how the average person may not know about the danger of drinking too much water too fast, but I'm surprised the radio station management signed off on this.
Looks like the mangagement might be looking for new jobs pretty soon. How would you like this incident on your resume?
I hope when you die it is from something intelligent, and that that is a consolation to you.
