Rosie O'Donnell — quite rightly, I believe — has had enough of Barbara Walters

I'm no fan of either of them, but there is an implication here that Barbara is the cause of the problem, and I think that's laughable. Walters got where she is by being smooth and diplomatic and getting along with an incredibly broad array of people. Rosie, on the other hand, is a loud-mouthed, abrasive bull dyke.

But, hey, Rosie has -- quite rightly -- had enough of Barbara!! [/s]

I saw Barbara's face during the DeVito incident and she did not look too amused. I'm not a Barbara Walters fan, but she's got more class than Rosie, DeVito, or The Donald. Boy that Trump likes to stir the pot if that letter of his is true.

Very true. But ratings drive the game. To us, Rosie O'Donnell looks like a noxious pig. But apparently she fascinates the average couch potato, and they tune in by the millions to watch her, waiting breathlessly to see what outrage happens next.

I would have thought the same about Howard Stern. There were earlier stories that when he went to pay radio his ratings plummeted and he was a miserable failure. Then it turns out that wasn't true. He gets millions in stock options, and the price of the stock rises on the news.

Evidently it's a mistake to think that the entertainment media should be rational. Evidently all those people who twice elect Bill Clinton, even if by a minority vote, just love to tune in to the antics of a Howard Stern or a Rosie O'Donnell, just as they love to page through US magazine. It's a discouraging thought.

You forgot ignorant, smelly and unwashed. Otherwise, spot-on.
