In the wake of a devastating fire that destroyed her Malibu home, Suzanne Somers maintains a positive attitude.
In a statement to TMZ issued by her rep, Suzanne says, "My nature is to look at the glass half full. I don't have a son or daughter in Iraq. I haven't lost a loved one. We will rebuild, and I truly believe we will learn something great from this experience."
Suzanne and her husband were not in Malibu during the blaze.
Geographically you could not find a worse place on earth to build a home than Malibu.
I see you didn't see her say this, right?
You've completely mischaracterized the whole episode.
And I wonder why.
I'm hearing her Home Shopping Network jewelry sales counters go down as I write this.... LOL!
She sells her products on HSN or QVC; she's certainly not going to deliberately say something to upset her buyers.
Here is her entire statement:
"My nature is to look at the glass half-full. I don't have a son or daughter in Iraq. I haven't lost a loved one. We will rebuild, and I truly believe we will learn something great from this experience."
She had just arrived at her home, seeing it for the first time, and the reporters shoved mikes in her face.
People need to try to NOT see something there that isn't there.
Or faked illness.
Or said he would show up for filming and then didn't.
Or screamed at producers or cried in front of them like a lunatic.
He just told his agent to tell the network's people to get him his price or he would walk.
When they told him no, he completed his contract and walked. And then spent 8 years paying for his mistake without crying in the press about how Hollywood was out to get him.
Use the common sense you were born with, as I do.
Why? What was wrong with it?
I did.
I heard her when she said it.
She didn't do anything close to what you have accused her of.
But the MSM thanks you for buying their spin.
You're probably right, but I thought the AP really didn't care what us rubes think.
"My nature is to look at the glass half full. I don't have a son or daughter in Iraq. I haven't lost a loved one. We will rebuild.."
I don't see anything wrong with what she said. Parents with a son or daughter in Iraq certainly know fear and worry. She is saying her problems are bearable in comparison. Good for her.
We have a winner!
Just what did I accuse her of in your opinion? Where was the necessity in making the comment she made about Iraq in reference to losing her home and belongings. How do these two things relate? Making a comment that at least no one had been lost in the fire would be appropriate. The comment she made was not. I'm able to read between the lines quite well, thank you.
She's acknowledging that those with loved ones in harm's way, or those who have lost loved ones, are worse off than her, that she can rebuild. Seeing as how we are at war and those losses are reported daily, it's not an inappropriate example, unless you are the knee jerk type who just ~wants~ to see everything as an insult.
Because she is a liberal asshole.
She made the comment intentionally, and with malice aforethought against this country and this war.
Now if you're the kind of person who would arrive home to your home burned to the ground and think, "Hey, this would be a great time to get a shot in about Bush and Iraq," maybe that's what you think.
When you are in shock from a big loss, you say a lot of stupid stuff. It sounds like she was just listing off things to remind her what she had rather than going slam crazy.
So. What about parents whose kids are policemen or firemen. Do people go around saying well "at least my loved ones aren't policemen?"
She let her agenda show.
Suzy, you can always rebuild the house with your petty cash. Just don't forget that it is because of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan that you get the opportunity to live the lifestyle that you enjoy.
Sheesh.... she just gave an example of someone with real worries. I'm sure she wasn't intending to insult every worried person she didn't mention.
Did AP censor her Iraq comment?
