Tuesday, January 9, 2007, Tuesday, BAILIWICK
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Tomorrow Im bringing in chains, so beware.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. Im just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words as if can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.
BAILIWICK Pronunciation: ba/il/i/wick
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English baillifwik, from baillif + wik dwelling place, village, from Old English wIc, from Latin vicus village -- more at VICINITY

I must be losing it. Here I was getting ready to post a new thread because I thought it was Wednesday already. I guess I must have had a REEEEEALLLY long Monday this week.

Remember to check her ID, or your bailiwick could end up in jailiwick. Or as Liz Lemon's old flame on "30 Rock" put it so eloquently:
"The problem with dating 20-year-olds is that half of them are 16."

Baili Wicked.

The source of Codey's ire is a section of the state constitution that addresses those who are eligible to vote. It states, "No idiot or insane person shall enjoy the right of suffrage."Looks like half the Democrats in Jersey voted illegally, then.

Good Morning!
Nancy Pelosi now thinks that the world is her bailiwick.
My advice to her: More bailing, less wickedness.

"I believe the Isle of Jersey is a baliwick, the last part of the Duchy of Normandy." I wouldn't mind having a baliwick. Does anyone have a claim on the Island of Bali?

Looks like half the Democrats in Jersey voted illegally, then. I was thinking more along the lines of half the legislature being illegal..........but you're right.
