Do we even know Ohio State was the best Big Ten team? They didn't have to play Wisconsin. And Wisconsin did beat an SEC team in their bowl game.

Do you really think BSU could beat OSU and LSU, like Florida did? And by a combined score of 64-24?

A fitting finale to a very unpredictable bowl season.

Michigan? In the championship game? What a laugh! They couldn't even beat USC! There is no way Michigan deserved to be in the big game. They got what they deserved- a sound thumping by USC.

OSU came in with an ATTITUDE. They had the Heisman Trophy Quaterback, The 1st Team ALL American Running Back and some other guy with and award of somekind, a 12-0 record and the PRESS of adoring Sports writers. They get a kickoff return TD and then commenced to get 30 yards of penalties for personal fouls.

The Gators came in with business in mind, not stars in their eyes. The Buckeyes believed their hype. The Gators believed in themselves.

OSU got their arrogant asses handed to them on a silver platter.......

You're entitled to your opinion but at least get your facts straight.

Florida won their THIRTEENTH game last night.

Some may not be aware, but there has been a run on gator meat at stores around Ohio over the last week or so. I've heard that a recall has been announced, it turns out some of the meat may have been tainted. Customers are encouraged to return the meat (or just the packaging) to the store where it was purchased. It will be exchanged at no cost, not questions asked ... for crow.

OK, but they still lost one, right?

And they don't even have the second best record in the NCAA, do they? They are tied with OSU in that regard.

Boise State sits atop, alone, undefeated, and they don't even get a share of the title?

Please.

What a yawner of a game.

With the underdog scoring 41 points and sacking the Heisman winner several times for big losses?

I don't think you even watched the game!

There is more parity between the leagues than there ever has been. Every year one of these cinderella teams make their undefeated run, they fumble at the end: Fresno State, Rutgers, K-State, etc.

This year, it didn't happen, and worse, they beat Oklahoma, a top ten team.

Oklahoma will testify that all that is required is to have more points at the end of the game.

There's nothing written that says you have to win by a certain margin.

At the NCAA Div 1-A level, if you go undefeated, that in itself is something of great weight that can be tested. Miami seemed to win quite a bit in the ACC (I believe) even though they were up against Wake Forest and a host of other 'questionable' teams (Virginia Tech excepted).

BYU won their National Championship by going undefeated in the WAC. It's only recently that BYU left the WAC for the Mountain West, but it isn't as if BYU was playing in a powerhouse league either.

BSU got their schedule, and they played it perfectly, including the BCS Ugly Sister Bowl game they were relegated to. Oklahoma isn't a push over by any reasonable standard.

College sports are riddled with underdog stories. That's why we make them play the games.

What were the odds on Florida winning last night before kickoff?

How many other times has a team tied for second won the national championship?

Zero as far as I have been able to research it.

In 1991, Miami and Washington were co-champions.

Bottom line, Florida gets an asterisk next to their place in the Almanac. They came in second place to BSU. BSU had one more win, and one less loss, than Florida.

Well, I watched the game and after the first half it was a real snoozer. I bet viewership of the fourth quarter was maybe 20% of what it was for the first quarter. Not much exciting about a game with a foregone conclusion. After last year's exciting match-up, this years game was not very interesting.

You BSU defenders are worse than the Gore-ons during the 2000 Election fiasco.

Rules are rules, and under the current system Florida is the Champion. Case closed.

You can't seriously believe that BS would have any shot at beating Florida can you?

Did you seriously believe they had a shot of beating Oklahoma?

YES! Of course I do.

The oddsmakers didn't seriously believe OSU was going to be evicerated by OSU this year either.

It's why we play the games. To see who actually wins, and to win, you simply have to have more points than the other team at regulation.

Does anyone seriously believe that a wild card team in the NFL has a chance of winning the Superbowl? It's happened, and the system hasn't been around that long either.

You're right that the second half didn't have the same action as the first but for those of us in Florida it still had plenty of good hits and anticipation.

I've seen Superbowls with far less excitement.

So how do you feel about Auburn getting the shaft when they went undefeated and didn't get their shot at the NC a couple of years ago?

Absolutely. Auburn did get the shaft, and their consistency since then certainly bears out that fact.

These things happen in college sports. Remember when St. John's was a basketball power?
