I suspect Urban and the Zooker have spoke a few times on this subject.
Speaking of the Zooker, he's doing a pretty good job recruiting this year at Illinois. He's a good recruiter, players genuinely like him, but he tries too hard to be a player's coach, and that just doesn't work.
My prediction ...
Ohio State Buckeyes 27
The University of Florida Gainesville Crocs 27
OUT
Some caches have had success with that model. Barry Switzer was famous for letting the kids party and run wild.
I read somewhere about a conversation Meyer had with Lou Holtz, former South Carolina coach. Holtz told Meyer that Zook had recruited great talent, but the team was soft. Meyer said he found out what Holtz meant shortly after taking over the Gators. Some highly talented players that didn't want to pay the price to acquire necessary toughness left the team in short order.
The Utes 03 and 04 seasons were probably the most fun I've ever had watching a college football team. GO UTES!
Or Utah two years ago.
You are probably right, but I can't possibly imagine Boise State and their idiot fans getting any worse...they're like BYU fans only not as cheap.
I was nearly trampled to death trying to climb the goal posts after the BYU game on the field that year. I'm still a little bitter I got snowed in in Reno for the Fiesta Bowl otherwise I would have made that one.
"I think we all agree that USC is the best in the Nation..."
USC gets beat by UCLA and they're the best in the nation?
ROFLMFAO
"I hope Ohio State is as overly confident as you are."
Yep, the Buckeyes better not believe their press clippings the way the Hurricanes believed theirs when OSU beat them, or the Buckeyes will be in for a shock. I don't think there's any way Tressel would let that happen though.
Michigan beat themselves and now I see that a rematch would not have worked. Again this is why I am for the playoff system.
Now that is a game I wish I had watched, the one that Boise was in and won. That game they threw everything in, including the kitchen sink to be able to win it. A victory for the little guys in college football. Also Lousiview's win in the Orange Bowl has now given new found respect for the Big East in college football.
Johnson envy?
I do think Florida could end up being like the deer that had seen the lights of a car before getting hit. Florida could end up getting more in over its heads.
OSU is so tough, Florida is just going to get banged up like hitting a brick wall so many times. That is how OSU has been this season, a tough brick wall.
Clever. Arrogant, but clever.
And I'll never be envious of Donkey State. Ever.
Here's a clue for you: Michigan lost because they were outplayed on both sides of the ball. What good would a playoff system do for you if you can't even figure out who is the better team after they play the game?
Had Michigan won convincingly against USC, they'd have an argument, but now we know....
I wish Boise would get a shot though. I really do.

This screams for a playoff. It's possible that USC is better than people thought defensively, and Buckeyes might not destroy Florida, leaving lingering questions. Championships should be decided on the field, not in the court of public opinion.
Well a playoffs system would weedout the worse of the college football teams and allow the best ones to shine.
