The FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 11

Posted on 01/02/2007 9:57:39 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

The shower outside of my bedroom has been tore apart for over 10 years. I got sick of it and hired some outside contractors to finish it. You just get so tired of seeing it tore apart. A whole more then DIY, but at least it gets done.

That's probably what I'm going to end up doing too.

Thank goodness for the indoor arena. We can keep working horses.

They sure are nice to have in our neck of the woods. Unfortunately, I don't have one. The ground is froze now, and we have the ruts like Hair did. We do let them out and they just hang around the barn.

We are expecting snow all week also.

My daughter is going to paint the walls in the basement, red. Just where the woodburner is and one other wall. They are fixing it for a game room. Right now it is pink! Red would certainly be better than that.

I think you really need big, open rooms for those bold colors. On those HGTV shows, some of those rooms are really outstanding, as far as color. But, you notice when it comes to selling, they always go for the nice warm ones.

whatamess!

Sure is and a lot of hard work for you guys. Wouldn't it be nice to have a chipper/shredder? Hint for Christmas along with the chain saw! :)

I like to watch "flip that house" It amazes me what they can do. It shocks me, how much they pay though. I see houses go for 300000, that you could get for 30-40k around here.

We've thought about renting a chipper, we hear them all over on weekends... I wonder what the waiting list is like at the rental places. We ain't the only ones with a mess.

I figure, we have a big open place to burn, let those who can't burn have the chippers.

I have some friends with an old New England-y type of house and the living room is red with white trim for the finish work. It's really nice, but I agree that for a bedroom that's pretty intense.

Hair, those are some branches! Wow!

Today was exhausting. We did five surgeries. Two tumor excisions and biopsies, two dentals, and an eye growth removal. We had a german shepherd that was the size of a miniature horse, I swear, and I almost broke my back trying to carry him on the stretcher. He was so big that he couldn't fit in a double cage, so we did him first, and then let him come out of it on the floor. Sometimes when you put them under, they loll and roll their heads about before they go down, each on is different, but this boxer that I had restrained hit me right in the face. There wasn't a lot of force behind it, thank god, but it sure woke me up!

Yeah , that's the one that has multiple episdes, isn't it? I like it. I like most home improvement shows. I hate real hardware stores but I love going to Home Depot, and places lik that. My biggest problem is money and a husband that thinks I can't do stuff:')

My biggest problem when I go to places like that is that I don't know what half of the stuff in there is for. :-p I like to go look at the bathroom and kitchen stuff though, and imagine what I would want my house to look like when I finally have one.

Ever heard of Builders Square? They closed but I used to love going there. Do you ever go look at open houses? I used to do that as a kid. I remember once when I was about 11 or 12. I found this old white two story house with hardwood floors, stairs and fireplaces that I loved. My mom finally went and looked at it with me so I would shut up. She wasn't too impressed but liked making her weird daughter happy I guess. I remember walking thru it and picking which room would be mine and talking with her about rooms for my sisters.

I have never heard of Builder's Square. Is it a Texas Thing? I loved houses with stairs when I was a kid. I'm not sure why. My dad's house has two fireplaces. The house that I'm living in now (shared with others) has a lovely central fireplace.

Hauled two more truckloads of branches out... the front yard is pretty much cleaned up, still have the side yards to do but the most visible part is tidier.

Emptying the truck was, as usual, an interesting development for the horses :~)

Cyn thought for a minute about whether she might climb right up into the truck ;~) I thought for a minute about whether I should just take a picture or switch to video :~)

This computer is making me nuts. ATT uses Yahoo. I keep getting pop ups from ms explorer(?) about message errors, something about server busy, retry, and Yahoo pop ups that stop all activity. Oh and Mcfee wants to do a clean up. Yikes. I can't open my AOL mail either. I'm very proud of myself that I got the router up and going by myself. I guess I'm gonna have to swallow my pride and ask hubby how to clean this up. The speed is good though:')
