This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I'm sure I look like an idiot with my black and lime striped hoop but it's actually fun. I put on some really upbeat music and crank it up and hoop.
I'm using a smaller one for my arms and legs....they don't work though if anyone over 6 is watching.
Do you have a weighted hoop for your middle and did it make your sides sore at first? Mine are killing me!
Not yet. Mine is just a cheapie. I bought 3 . A little one for the baby, a medium for her sister and a big one for me. What happened though? I could do this much better, all day long 40 years ago:')
I'm shocked. I can keep up the 3lb adult hoop as long as I want to. I usually take a minute break after 4 minutes. I don't think I was that good as a kid. Tried buying one at Walmart but it was too small around and it would just fall to my ankles. Got more exercise picking the darn thing up off the floor!
I may look at the weighted for now. I'm getting a lot of ankle exercise too:') Where I'm really feeling it is in my upper arms.
I'll have to try the arms with my little one from walmart. I ordered my weighted one from customhoop.com. Couldn't find any locally via retail stores.
I have to thank you for mentioning it. Hooping would have never occurred to me and it's fun.
It's still too icy around to ride this week, but the farrier is coming Thur. or Fri. Hopefully by next week I can ride a bit. Starting again...and will take it easy to make sure his shoulder is OK now.
Well, I stepped out there and painted my bedroom red....I'm now waiting for it to dry enough to primer over it and repaint...red is just not for me. I have the primer and new paint ready to go, can't wait to get the red covered. I had found a set of bed clothes that I really really liked, that has red in them. But the red walls is just too much. So any way, my point is, I'm rather glad I'm not able to ride this week, I won't get side tracked and not get this done, altho, I don't think I would get that sidetracked, I really really don't like the red I used.

Wow, that is a pile of branches:)
Looks like it must be warm there. Today here is really nice, we actually have a lot of sun. It's just there is so much ice still covering everything doesn't make being outside pleasant.
Becky
Heh... Well, the good news about paint is you can paint over it!
Do you hate it so much you don't even want to show us?
That's not even close to half the branches... we're fixinta go load another truckload in a few.
It is warm out - 51, horses got blankets off and it's sunny.
Still cold here and raining off and on. Kind of funny. Our local weather guy said we may be in the 40's another day or two or maybe it will warm up tommorrow or this stuff may just stick around for another week or two!
LOL...I took some pictures before I painted it red, and I've took a few to show you the red, but I'm not showing anything till I get it done:). Then you can see all three at the same time. Might not happen tho, till the end of the week.
My DIL's mother is an interior decorator, and I just happen to run into her when i went back to the store to get the primer and a different color. She said red is very hard to paint. That's part of my problem, even with two good coats it's still very streaky looking. But I can tell now I wouldn't like it even if it wasn't streaky. I think with the bedclothes I bought and the new curtains I want to put up, I just went way overboard on red, but now I don't even want to try a red accent wall...
Becky
We finally made it to the 40's today. It may have been in the 40's yesterday, but we didn't have all the sunshine we are having today, so today seems nicer.
Becky
I do look forward to seeing it.
Well! Honey just got up and headed out, I think we're gonna take another load of branches. I bet we end up with 4 truckloads at least :~)
Speaking of paint...I painted my room green awhile back. It hurt my eyes. I went over it with a lighter green but it is still green...When my company gone I think I'm going to go with a light peach. I bore of all these white walls but bright colored walls aren't me either.
I'm tired of white walls too.
I think I'm the warm earth tone color type:). The new colors I'm going with are golden browns. I'm going to have one accent wall that will be darker then lighter for the rest of the walls.
Becky
That sounds "warm" and comfortable :')
Underneath the far trees we haven't even touched yet, it still looks like this :~\
We don't have to get all the branches from under the trees, we're not that manicured around here, but I want to get all the big ones, and those that are half broken still sortof dangling from the trees. whatamess!
