How about those Boise State Broncos!
Fox and ESPN ^ | 1/1/2007 | Jeff Head

Boise State wins 2007 Fiesta Bowl in OT against Big 12 Champs, Oklahoma.

Amazing 4th and 18 touchdown from the fifty with a flea flicker with 7 seconds left. Amazing 4th down touchdown in OT followed by another amazing 2 point conversion to win against a very resilant and strong OU team which came back from 18 points down and took the lead with a minute and 6 minutes left in regulation.

One of the most exciting and amazing College football games I have seen, next to the Miracle Bowl when BYU beat SMU 41 to 40 by scoring three touchdowns in the last three minuts 25 years ago.

How 'bout them Broncos!

Well, I'd still argue that the Holiday Bowl of 1980 when BYU (QB was McMahon) came back and beat SMU (two GREAT running backs, Craig James and eric Dickerson), scoring three touchdowns in the last 2:33, the last one coming as time expired, ranks right up there with this one. I have been talking about that game for 27 years.

Now I have another one to add to it for the next 27 years.

You're right there, Stoops never really looked like he thought they had it in the bag...except briefly, right after that interception of Zebranski with a little over a minute left that gave them the lead.

Then you had the hook and lateral play and that changed the facial expression completely, and understandably so...I thought it was over at that point...but they had the heart and the gumption to not give in and do what needed doing. great game and great life lesson.

Did you hear him say his back up QBs were calling the plays, and called the winning 2 point conversion play?

I'm with you on that. He gave credit where credit was due and that was as impressive as his win.

I guess all that money SMU spent didn't get them very far.

...you could add Rigby, ID (the birthplace of television). Thank goodness Philo T. Farnsworth was an industrious young student or else we might not have been able to watch the game tonight.... :o)

I passed on this one. :-(

Oh man. Next to the Florida-Ohio State game (of course), this was the bowl game I was most eagerly anticipating.

That was a TERRIFIC game. If those plays had been written into a movie script, they'd be cut for being unrealistic.

Just found out that Fox Sports will be offering all the bowl games on DVD (20 minute highlights of each major bowl game).

I watched the whole game--only to turn it off in disgust after OU got the interception touchdown with about a minute left!

Oh well. . .

Thanks...it was a thrilling game, and a big moment for Idaho college sports.

Yeah, yeah. I forgot how exciting it was supposed to be. I rolled off the Michigan game so the wife stole the remote and started watching reruns of "Beach Patrol" (barforama). I lost my concentration for a minute ;-)

Exactly...many, many big moments in Idaho history. This was clearly the biggest sports moment IMHO, particularly college sports.

Congrats on a great win Jeff.

I guess I can claim a connection to UI. I just got my FRCC and LANDFIRE certifications from the University of Idaho at Boise.

Distance learning is a great thing.
