Best end to a college game I have ever seen!!!
So then what happens if OU fumbles the ball, and the game is still tied, or BSU blocks the FG attempt and returns it for a TD?
Hindsight is 20/20, always take the sure points.
Before this, my favorite was Pat Haden coming back in the second half for USC to nail Notre Dame after being kicked all over the field in the first half.
Thank you. I was there, so I thought maybe old-timers was setting in! I have all the printed shirts, hats and footballs, etc., "1985 National Champions".
They played well enough to get there, I just hope they don't "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" like they've done so many times before. But we digress...
'Big up' to Boise State on a job well done!
It was the football version of "Rocky."
Yeah but you're forgetting that these big schools play fluff teams earlier in the year to run up the score, to get the rankings and the points in the BCS.
IMO opinion the best bowl game I ever saw was the 2002 title game between Miami and Ohio. People have a short memory of "best game ever".
Oh ye of short mammary.
Best bowl game in history: Miami/Nebraska, the Orange Bowl, 1983-the "Miracle In Miami". Ohio State beating Miami in Tempe was to be expected. Miami beating Nebraska anywhere in 1983 was simply unheard of....
Be Seeing You,
Chris
How so?
Only if you're an Ohio fan and don't mind the refs winning the game for you.
That's not how I remembered it, nobody I know gave Ohio State a chance.
You surely are correct on that!! Masterful play calling and execution.
Now, I see that Alabama supposedly is offering Saban mega-millions to come and coach the Tide. Seems to me Bama's AD ought to be on a plane to Boise to offer Chris Peterson a couple of million (Peterson's current contract is $500,000). While this is his first year as head coach, he's been running this offense for six years so he certainly has a track record.
Most creative play calling I've seen in years.
It couldn't have been scripted any better.
Any team hiring Saban is getting a money whore. He has no loyalty AT ALL. Just ask Michigan State. And LSU. And probably the Dolphins. If he goes to Bama and succeeds, he will be gone within 3 years to the highest bidding NFL team.
No doubt...what an absolutely unbelievable game. I wonder when they're going to show it on ESPN Classic? I know that they did a day's worth of BCS recap early last year, culminating with the only game I really cared about then - Texas beating USC! (For the record, I have two football teams - UCLA, and anyone who plays against USC!)
Nobody'd believe a script like that if you wrote it! ;-)
According to the ranking system, which is simply not fair. On the other side of the coin, you have Michigan lingering in the top 10 every damn year, even when they have more losses than most teams. It isn't a ranking system, its a money system designed to bring in the most dollars to the biggest schools with the most alumni.
No, the one and only reason football is different is because there is too much money at stake for the big schools to allow the peons a shot at the national title. It's greed, pure and simple. With a strong whiff of cowardice.
what?
They play 2 fluff teams on average so they can win their homecoming game and 1 extra. Playing West Texas College for the Blind doesn't add to the BCS numbers.
I was 3 in 1983. Like I said, I can't remember college football from before I watched it. ;)
