If you had HDMI on a stereo receiver as well as your TV and device, we're talking two cords instead of four.
One HDMI from the TV to the device and one from the device to the receiver.
My surround sound receiver (Yamaha 5930)doesn't have HDMI inputs (only digital and optical, along with the plethora of component and multi-channel). Among the three pieces (satelite box, receiver and TV) I am working on only two cords (one from the satelite to each of the others). It's my DVD/Super Audio CD that's adding to the bulk (along with the six sets of speaker wire cords from receiver to the wall jacks). If someone ever creates a wall plug to make all six speakers work off of one connector cord and plug from the receiver, they'll make a mint.
