On Tuesday, former president Gerald R. Ford, Jr. died at the age of 93. He led a full life beginning on July 14, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska.

The future president was a star athlete and the captain of the Grand Rapids South High School football team. He was offered contracts with the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers but declined so that he could attend Yale Law School. Shortly after his graduation, an outside event changed his plans. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Gerald Ford enlisted in the Navy.



Shortly after returning from the war, Ford decided to run for a seat in the House of Representatives. His 24-year tenure included his rise to the House Minority Leader. After Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned, President Nixon chose Ford to beceome the new vice president. When Nixon himself later resigned, Gerald Ford became the first (and only) person to ever rise to the presidency without ever being elected as president or vice president.


His presidency was notable for not only his pardon of Nixon but, according to many, his restoration of trust in the presidency. President Ford worked hard to ensure that his tenure in the office was open and honest. Later in life, Gerald and Betty Ford moved to their Rancho Mirage home in California. It was there that President Bush visited the couple in April of this year.



On December 26, 2006, Gerald Ford died at his home in Rancho Mirage. Ford will have services in Washington, DC and will be buried at his Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Anne Coulter, I never found her to be that attractive, I guess she needs to do something with her hair, I think that is why I don't find her that good looking, she needs a hair style.

I always liked Ann Coulter's hair. I can't say that I found her to be drop-dead gorgeous, but she is attractive because she's often presented such good arguments in favor of conservative positions.

One woman who I didn't think about at first is Brooke Burke. I think she's absolutely perfect in appearance. I don't know anything about her views on important life questions. Her public personna is of a lady who is fun to hang out with and generally very nice.

About a week or so before Christmas, I had a meeting in a building about a ten minute walk from my office. Someone had given me a ride to the building, but I didn't have a ride back back to my office. While I was in the meeting, a heavy rain came over the plant. I had my umbrella, but the umbrella couldn't keep my feet and lower legs from being soaked. I spent the rest of the day with wet socks and cold feet. All I could think about all day was the picture of this bird. That's one of the cutest pictures and captions that I've seen in a long time.

Wonderful tribute, Kate. It choked me up by the time I got to the end. My favorite photo of the president was when he had a tear in his eye for receiving the medal of freedom.

No one except a president can understand the burdens of that office, but we do get glimpses into what they face and carry from time to time.

During the hearse's stop at the World War II memorial, I got a big lump in my throat when the bosun's mate stepped up to "pipe him aboard."

Got to google her down, never heard of her. BTW,I'm just chilling and killing a few brain cells as I watch "Godzilla" (1956) on a local, Pittsburgh made and hosted, horror movie how that is on one of our local indy UHF stations.
