Chemistry Set - (Now, that one was a blast, literally! We could make explosives, and there is still, 50 years later, a stain (showing through the paint) on my mother's kitchen ceiling my youngest brother put there early one morning!)

The latest "Chemistry sets" are so dumbed down and made "child safe" that they are BORING, BORING, BORING. No alcohol lamps, no alcohol, no "dangerous" chemicals, nothing that can stain...

I know.

My youngest brother's sons were delighted when we found our original chemistry set (dating FRom 1951?) in the attic.

They immediately set about "blowing up" their mom's kitchen, just like their dad had done to his mom 50 years earlier!

Don't think they were able to -- chemicals were somewhat weakened, but they had fun trying!
