Laugh out loud. Hmmmmmm ... I'm not sure, but I don't think that's exactly the same as the one we had back then.

Hot Wheels for me. I had quite a collection, and set up that orange track all over the house.
Then I got into slot cars.

You mean stuff like this? I got a M3 cap shooter one Christmas. It would shoot up a whole roll of caps in one steady pull, so you know where all my allowance money went.
It sure beat a lot of the crap they got today.

Firecrackers. Anybody could get a mound of dirt to set up an army man battle, but it was useless without firecrackers.

Real-life looking dolls freaked me out as a child; they still do :)
I did have a Dressy Bessy.

It only got one station, WQXR, and they only played classical music, but I built it and it was my radio!

Hehehe what was your favorite toy?

Dressy Bessie...my, you're young!
She's cute, too; but I loved my Tiny Tears. I can remember when I opened her up for Christmas (maybe in 1957?). I remember what she wore, her "hair" and carrying her around to show her to everyone. My older sisters got Revlon Dolls that year.
It's funny which memories you get to keep. You have no idea, at the time, that they'll be permanent.

My older brother got something like this...
but it was much less modern! It had a white playing field, and the players vibrated around the field on plastic flaps carrying a felt football under their arms.

Probably the best 'thing' I had around me when I was a kid was my cat. I looked at your profile and the picture of your cat looks remarkably like the one I had. She was far too young to be separated from her mother when I got her. I could cup my hand and she fit in it. She was mostly gray at the time. My sister looked at her in my hand and said, "It looks like a little mouse."
How could I resist naming a cat "Mouse?" What an amazing animal she was. Full grown she weighed 14 pounds and wasn't fat. I watched her catch a bird when she was 12.
I had a bookshelf over my bed; it had high school yearbooks and heavy books like that on it. The cat always wanted to climb on it. I tried to discourage this. One night I was almost asleep when all these books started slipping down and dropping on my head, there's this cat frantically grabbing at the books trying not to fall. The last things that hit me were a law book and a 14 pound cat.
I was pissed, then I looked at the cat on my chest. She had this mystified look on her face, like her her world had just collpased around her (it had) and she had no idea what to do next. I cracked up laughing. The look on her face was priceless, unforgettable.
This one is Nikki. I just got her from a shelter. She's hiding in the bathtub.

Are you from New York? QXR was a classical station in New York back in the day.
