Though the NBA has had an awful image and the quality of play has collapsed since the Bird/Magic days, I have to say that there still are many unsung solid people in the NBA such as Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard and Maurice Agar.
These are criminal "hood" boyz.
I they could'nt get paid to toss a ball around
most of these guys would be on the street.
I doubt if half of these players nave an equivalent
of a 6th grade proficiency.

Yep, times have changed drastically. I lived in the LA area and was a follower until the early 70's. The lakers then had talent and pretty decent people. West, Riley, Jabbar (always Alcindor to me because he came from UCLA), Wilt, Baylor, but things started changing and I lost interest. Haven't been interested for years and partly because of the lack of class of many of the players.
Only 21 more wins in a row to break the Lakers' record (set in the '71 - '72 season). 33 in a row is not only the NBA record, it's the all-time pro sports records. I remember listening as a kid to Chick Hearn call the game on the radio that would've been #34 in a row against the Jabbar & Oscar Robertson-led Bucks. .....and Milw ripped 'em by 16.

Steve Nash is a machine, one more and we break our record, and its a crummy team (Raptors).
The Suns are the most entertaining team in the NBA, imo. And now that they have Stoudemire back they could go all the way.
Up until only a few years ago coach Wooden still referred to him as "Louis." ..lol.
I was a little too young to see him play at Pauley, but I got to see Walton. ....and many games of that (unbreakable) 88-game winning streak.
This fight started because Crysiah Thomas told his team to "send a message" to Denver. What bloody difference does it make who is "in the game at that point in time"?
On the other hand, Carmelo Anthony is a punk for throwing a sucker-punch with two guys between him and the recipient, and then running away when someone came back after him.
What a coach John Wooden was. He could take those young guys and get the absolute most out of them and they worshipped the ground he walked on.
Walton was a head case but Wooden controlled him. After he got to the pro's he slowly got out of control. I don't remember what finally happened to him because I stopped following it but I think it had to do with drugs, maybe not, but he was a good player.
Walton publicly credits Wooden's genius every chance he gets, and rightly so. "The Wizard of Westwood" is one of a kind. ...96 years old now. I highly recommend two of his books -- Wooden and They Call Me Coach.

I'd forgotten about Walton's injuries but remembered he had some head problems.
I didn't realize Wooden was still alive, 96 is getting up there. I haven't read a sports book in years but I'm going to read one of his and if it's good I'll read both. Thanks for the heads up on them, he's quite a man.

The crash started when they quit enforcing the rules for Jordan. Now, nobody even dribbles anymore. The NBA is a circus act now...amazing feats, but not really a competition.
