December 14, 2006 The End of The Dixie Chicks
The Dixie Chicks have been together since 1989... But it seems Natalie Maines' political outspokenness has brought the end of the band!
Emily Robison, Martie Maguire & Natalie Maines have announced that they are going to split up after the Grammy Awards in February 2007.
The Chicks are tired & wrung out, they’ve come to the end & they want a break from each other to spend more time with their families.
But the real reason behind the split is political.
Robison & Maguire have supported many of Maines' political beliefs, even though it’s put their lives & the lives of their families in jeopardy.
"They’ve received death threats, & it’s made them all nervous wrecks.”
The Dixie Chicks are nominated for a few awards in the upcoming Grammy's; Record of the Year (Not Ready To Make Nice), Album of the Year (Taking The Long Way), Song of the Year (Not Ready To Make Nice), Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal (Not Ready To Make Nice), Best Country Album (Taking The Long Way), and Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical (Rick Rubin on Taking The Long Way.)

And they were very organized in calling radio stations across the country and telling them that they would never listen to their station, when they didn`t even live in that town. And we knew that. And at the beginning our manager tried to explain that to some program directors and they were not willing to listen. And it looked like we were grasping at straws, so we just sort of kept quiet and let what was gonna happen, happen because they are a powerful, organized machine, and they wanted to take us down. I agree with you. The other two might have been able to tolerate Natalie if the group was still a commercial success. But their concert tour flopped.
When the break-up is confirmed, I'm going to turn on my 5-disc changer, listen to Reba McEntire and Toby Keith, and drink some Lone Star beer.
I'm sure the two sisters were pissed off at Fatalie from the get-go for opening her big mouth. They had a nice gig there earning MILLIONS easily but Fatalie ruined that payday for them. That documentary they just put out is phony. They tried to hide their hate for Fatalie but in reality they have to have a lot of RAGE against her.

Actually I am beginning to get a little concerned. There are people out there adding fuel to this thing and building on it and I'm concerned it might actually do some damage if it keeps up.
I hope the Chicks are at least keeping an eye on it.

The Dixi Chicks? They used to be good, didn't they, long ago, before that dumbell, Natalie Maines, ruined their future? It's both sad and funny that show biz folks continue to think they are actually smart.

Then why didn't they speak up a LOT earlier? Silence is complicity. They feathered their nests so now it's time to roost. They waited WAY TOO LATE for this. As someone posted earlier: sow = reap.
