December 14, 2006 The End of The Dixie Chicks

The Dixie Chicks have been together since 1989... But it seems Natalie Maines' political outspokenness has brought the end of the band!

Emily Robison, Martie Maguire & Natalie Maines have announced that they are going to split up after the Grammy Awards in February 2007.

The Chicks are tired & wrung out, they’ve come to the end & they want a break from each other to spend more time with their families.

But the real reason behind the split is political.

Robison & Maguire have supported many of Maines' political beliefs, even though it’s put their lives & the lives of their families in jeopardy.

"They’ve received death threats, & it’s made them all nervous wrecks.”

The Dixie Chicks are nominated for a few awards in the upcoming Grammy's; Record of the Year (Not Ready To Make Nice), Album of the Year (Taking The Long Way), Song of the Year (Not Ready To Make Nice), Best Country Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal (Not Ready To Make Nice), Best Country Album (Taking The Long Way), and Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical (Rick Rubin on Taking The Long Way.)

"STFU: You're endangering American lives"

A note that should have been written and placed as reminders everywhere Natalie went: Bathroom, gym, office, limo, studio, dinner, theater, closets, front door, and the all important refrigerator door

We'll probably never know, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were a decision on the part of their record label somewhere in the mix here. The Grammy Award isn't necessarily reflective of record sales and may be more a political statement on the part of those who make the awards and/or nominations. But the record label is a business and isn't likely to continue with an investment gone bad.

The only surprise here is that Natalie didn't get thrown under the bus sooner for opening her fat pie-hole and ruining the career of everybody in the band. Natalie is nothing but a cross to bear.

Agreed. Their poor education and lack of intelligent insight on anything of substance means that the only thing they can bring themselves to talk about is pop culture and their garbage liberal views that have been spoon-fed to them. They don't vacation in Europe to see the art museums, the countryside, or to admire the architecture. It's just a different setting to drink and get high in.

Absolutely. The record label is just picking the bones at this point. The Chixie Dix' record sales on their latest album is 1/12th what it was in 1998. And back in 1998, they were selling out gigs in front of 40,000 fans routinely. On the current tour, they could barely sell out a show in front of 12,000 people in Minneapolis and they've canceled over a dozen concerts ("scheduling conflict" is code for "nobody's buying tickets"). The news media doesn't mention that because there is no way to put a positive spin on it.

I think their next career move was to the Holiday Inn circuit.

Natalie and Jane Fonda will be coming out with a new album just in time for Democratic National Convention. So predictable.
