A Chaska high school teacher is accused of having sex with a student.
Julia Ozirski Lund has been a language teacher at Chaska High School for two years, but what happened with a 17-year-old didn't involve teaching.
"In any situation people are perceived to be an authority - a teacher, a coach, a boss on the job has to be aware of that. It carries with it special responsibilities and there are certainly boundaries," said Chaska High School Principal Paul McMahan.
But 28-year-old Lund is accused of crossing that boundary with a 17-year-old student. She is charged with criminal sexual conduct in the third degree.
According to a criminal complaint filed this week in Carver County, the student told police he first noticed Lund staring at him in the school hallway last school year. He was not one of her students.
This fall, he had a class next to her classroom and the eye contact continued. About a month ago, according to the complaint, Lund asked the student to call her and she allegedly sent him text messages.
Lund allegedly told the student her husband was away and she was lonely.
The student said he and Lund met at a park in Eden Prairie where, according to the complaint, Lund performed oral sex on him.
"There is one student involved. The teacher had access and contact as any teacher would to multiple students, but we have no indicators presently that there is more than one student victim," said Chaska Police Chief Scott Knight.
School officials say they found out about the alleged relationship after the student came forward. He spoke to a staff member and then to police.
Julia Lund teaches English as a second language at Chaska High School. Her resume, found on-line, shows teaching jobs in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Kiev, Ukraine. Authorities don't believe she targeted any other students, but hope anyone with information will come forward.
"These are always very emotional things to deal with. You have concern for the student's welfare, families and staff," said Principal McMahan.
Chaska High School sent a letter to parents this week to tell them about Lund's arrest.
She is now on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of the criminal case.
Lund appears in court Friday morning.
Adding favors instead of paying more, is a pretty dumb thing to say.
her and Miss USA should jello wrestle
and if your daughter, at age 16, willingly gave a teacher a blow job, you'd be fine with it? oh ok.
"her and Miss USA should jello wrestle"
Hopefully that will be the only job she can get after this.
this is MN, she could be MEA president.
I raised her better than that. If a teacher, or anyone else for that matter, asked her, they'd probably still be on life-support.
Good points.
double standard. girls raised to be moral and can physically assault someone who suggests a bj, but a male should feel lucky and flattered? BS.
I never said that. Don't put words in my Cracker mushmouth.
you said age 16=age of consent in MN so what's the hub-bub. well i posited an example of a 16 year old girl giving a teacher a BJ. i said your daughter, but it could be anyone's and hey, maybe she is HOT for the teacher, or maybe just doing it for a grade, but she is a willing participant. so we should all be cool with that bc she is of the age of consent? like i said, BS. why should a 16 year old girl not be thought of as lucky for GETTING SOME from a male teacher?
just chew on that for now. i have to get loosh to the vet bc he looks like he might have an eye infection and he is getting a new baby sister pup tomorrow and i don't want him infecting her : )
all joking aside, I agree with you. the 'position of authority' is the main point.if a boss did this to an employee, society wouldn't tolerate that either.(exception being if they're Congresscritters or Presidents)
feel free to insert jokes about 'authority positions' now. :)
Except for the voting part, I did all three when I was 17.
It's different. But then again, we have argued this so many times on these threads there is really no need to get into it again.
I think preying is the wrong word. When I was 17, if a semi-decent looking teacher offered me a BJ, I would have considered it a favor.
"Except for the voting part, I did all three when I was 17."
And broke the law unless it was a long gun and a long time ago.
Oh no, I had a beer before I was 21, I'm going to rot in hell! (And yes it was a long gun).
I was thinking about this some more, in no way did she prey on him. Look, let's say she gave him a bar of chocolate. Would you say that she preyed on him, or that she did something nice for him? Now, if she conned him into giving her a bar of chocolate, then yes, she would be preying on him.
Just because the good in question is a BJ and not a bar of chocolate does not change that dynamic.
If anything, he preyed on the lonley housewife, who has the girl next door sort of attitude.
