Just like Peter Boyle (who played Frank in Everybody loves Raymond). He was nominated 7 times for the Emmy, but never won. The only actor in the ensamble that didn't get the Emmy. And never will, since he died two days ago.

There are a lot of notable people who never got awards for their work. Martin Scorsese has gone without and it looks like he will continue to do so this year as well. Hitchcock never won an Oscar either.

I think a long-ago forgotten movie called "Joe" was one of his finest moments, long before he became a household word. Great film of a conservative father going underground to find his druggy daughter. Don't know if anyone else remembers that.

Anyway, he was a class comedian, with probably his funniest bit being in the Young Frankenstein movie when he was doing a dance in a top hat and tails trying to sing with Gene Wilder.

Gonna' miss him.
