911 Call Adds Credibility to Claims

ATLANTA, GA -- 11Alive News has obtained the tape of a 911 call that seems to lend credibility to an informant’s claims he was asked to lie about the shooting death of an elderly woman in northwest Atlanta.

A day after narcotics officers served a search warrant at the home of Kathryn Johnston, and she was shot and killed, a man named Alexis White called 911 with some disturbing claims.

911: “How can I help you…”

White: “Yes, I have two undercover officers chasing me. One of their names is Detective--“

911: “Okay, sir, are they chasing you now?”

White: “Yes. I just jumped out of the car with them.”

The news the caller is talking about is the shooting death of Kathryn Johnston. A day earlier, on November 21, narcotics officers served a no-knock search warrant at the home, and she ended up dead.

White: “I don’t know who’s on who’s side, man.”

Police have admitted that White is an often-used federal confidential informant. In this case, he says a day after the shooting, some of the narcotics officers picked him up and pressured him to lie and say he bought drugs at the home.

911: “You say undercover cops have picked you up?”

White: “Yeah, yeah, yeah. They come and picked me up and asked me about that killing yesterday, where they’re trying to play it off.”

The police and FBI say that since the tape is a part of their investigation, they wouldn’t comment. However, the FBI says they are aware of the existence of the 911 tape.

Some are antsy for the results, including state Senator Vincent Fort, who is asking the city about police procedural changes.

“We know that something went wrong, and in the committee meeting, I've been listening to residents, citizens -- they've talked about abuses of no knock warrants, bad warrants," Fort said.

In the meantime, another name has surfaced -- accused drug dealer, Fabian Sheats. According to a police report, Sheats was the person who first led officers to Kathryn Johnston's home.

The afternoon of November 21, narcotics detectives say they busted Sheats for selling marijuana, and he allegedly told them about a man selling cocaine at 933 Neal Street, and that Sheats “saw the kilo all broken up in a shoe box."

When the warrant was served later that evening, three officers were wounded, Kathryn Johnston was killed, and investigators say they turned up a small bag of pot, but no cocaine.

So their little game of "Cowboys and Civilians" blows up on them and they grab up some mook - and no doubt threaten him with some bull---- felony prosecution - to try to make him lie to cover their indefensible murder of this old woman. Grandpa always said, "Never vote Democrat and never trust a policeman."

thanks for the ping. I read this article the other day.

This investigation is moving along at a snails pace.

On an aside, in the Peyton Strickland case, Davis is considering another request from a new Grand Jury. Also
it turns out that one of those GJ members is married to a member of the New Hanover sheriffs dept. I think a detective if my memory is correct.
