Need FReeper advice: KitchenAid Mixmaster What attachments do you NEED?

Posted on 12/11/2006 7:03:31 PM PST by Pukin Dog

Okay, here it is:

Girlfriend is a budding pastry chef, who made a subtle hint yesterday about wanting a Mixmaster. I'm thinking "thats no big deal, what the hell?" So, I go up to Amazon, and theres all these colors, and all these freakin attachments, and DAMN that thing is expensive!! I thought I was going to get away cheap on this deal, ya know?

So, you owners of these things, what is so great about them anyway, and what attachments should I buy with the thing, and what freaking COLOR and, and, and, by the time I'm ready to buy, should I just give her the cash?

Why is this thing so much more expensive then the other brands? Does food taste better with this thing? Is this some female status symbol or something? I could buy a lot of man stuff with that money, so ladies, tell me what's so great about this sucker, before I get her a gift certificate instead!

Hmm...where's my 10-foot pole? That's about the only way I am touching that one!

If you have to think that much about spending the money on her...this relationship is not in good shape or this is so casual that maybe just a box of chocolates and a pretty sweater would be more appropriate.

Relationship? She's a girlfriend, but I am NOT the marrying kind. That said, she is a sweet (but crazy) girl who could use a break. I don't want anything from her, just trying to be the nice guy until the inevitable ugly break up. But Lurker convinced me, since after I am long gone, she will have the mixer to either torment her or give her good memories. LOL.

With the way the beater rotates around the bowl, it's hard to scrape the bowl while mixer is running.

Scraping the bowl while it is running is a no no with this mixer.

As a lifelong Raider fan, let me give YOU some advice. Do NOT believe in the Bears this season. It was only the Rams. A better team will destroy them. As much as I hate to say it, I think this is the year of the Chargers.

Does buying this thing suggest anything that could hint at commitment?

I think I speak for all FReeper ladies when I say the perfect gift must contain a diamond, chocolate, booze, or ammo.

Naw. The chocolate will end up on her hips and the sweater will end up all wrinkled on the floor.

Did I say hips? I mean LIPS...on her LIPS.

Everyone, I have purchased the Red Artisan unit from Amazon for $199, plus the $99 Attachment pack, and the $99 pasta rollers. Having them gift wrapped and delivered to her address in a couple days. Will let you know after Christmas how it all worked out. So, that means she got the grinder too, and all those other cool attachments as well.

I suspect, from her, I will get..........a gift certificate.

LOL.

No - ate it - drank it - shot it.

The only diamonds you will catch me buying will be on a cutting blade.

LOL, yeah. Poor girl, saying stuff like "12 inches seems little small, though. "

How do you think I felt?!
