Long but interesting, apparently they are conservative because that is the best way to be counter-culture in LA.

I know a couple of mormons. They are all really nice. They aren't very eager to talk about their religion though. Of course some guys do rip on them a little bit from such things as the SP Mormon episode so this could be just a little bit of a defense mechanism.

Stone: I had Birkenstocks in high school. I was that guy. And I was sure that those people on the other side of the political spectrum were trying to control my life. And then I went to Boulder and got rid of my Birkenstocks immediately, because everyone else had them and I realized that these people over here want to control my life too. I guess that defines my political philosophy. If anybody’s telling me what I should do, then you’ve got to really convince me that it’s worth doing.

---

That's it in a nutshell. If there is anyone out there that wants someone else to do what they say... then they've got to really prove that their idea really is the right way.

IE - a rational, logical argument to prove an idea's validity.

Too bad both sides are little more conivincing than Mr. Mackey. "Drugs are bad. MMMKay." And that is as far as they seem to be able to get with any idea.

I like seeing that they actually have a conscience about some stuff. Like the Bloody Mary episode. They realized that maybe people had a right to be mad. As opposed to say I don't know The Dixie Chicks who don't think people should get mad at them for saying anything.

They are willing to own what they think. Many today, both inside of politics and out, if they get called on the carpet about something they said, try to play popularity games with what they really meant.

Matt and Trey own what they say, like it or not ;~)

I don't think that the Dixie Chicks lack conscience about what they say, they just don't understand that taking a stand means you might have to defend what you say, and some people might not like you for it.

I think the only difference with Matt and Trey is they're OK with people some people not liking them... they understand it's part of saying something controversial.

That was really tough, because that felt like we were playing along with this, to me, fundamentally immoral organization like Scientology.

Freakin' awesome.

There are a lot of things people say about them, but not speaking their mind isn't one of them. They will call it as they see it.

Finally, a good SP fix.

"My first girlfriend was Mormon."
The one the horse was named after in "Cannibal"?
