Many years ago, there were something like 9 teenagers that went missing, and all of a sudden, their van was found in a van submerged in a retention lake in Florida. Their car had driven off the road. They are very hard to see at night if you don't know the area. There are also 3 men from RI that went to Florida for a fishing trip who also disappeared in a similar fashion, and they have never been found. Having been in Florida several times, I can see how it is possible.

"hard to see at night if you don't know the area".

I-95 in Fl, Ga and S.C. is flat, smooth, straight as an arrow, like a green tunnel and it's easy to get hypnotized by the road, especially at night. From Fla to NY - that's 1000 miles of mean macadam.

The Guays were not elderly, but leaving at 4 a.m. means they would have driven in the dark for 2 hours, just about to Rocky Mount.

A very sad ending.
