Found in a NC swamp. No foul play...believe to be an auto accident. Prayers for their family. They looked like a loving, happy couple.

The car was found under two feet of water.

The creek was estimted to be 6-8 feet deep in the area the car went in. It is about 20 feet wide from reports.

That makes sense. I once hit a deer on a dark deserted road the night before Thanksgiving. Because I didn't see it until I hit it, I didn't have time to even brake. In my case, my hood flew up and broke my windshield and I had a most difficult time stopping since I couldn't see. But had I seen the animal before I hit, it would have been easy to brake and swerve and then run off the road.

The hood probably saved your life; I've seen way too many people killed when the deer came through the windshield.

I am across the street from our lake and the woods are behind me, so I see them all the time crossing to get water; I am VERY careful here, but I forget once I get off these streets.

I have heard people saying that they are really bad this year, but I think they say that every year, don't they?

What's so funny? You think its ok to make fun of people on this forum simply because they don't agree w/you? What kind of out of control ego do you have?

Now your trashing Howlin? You going to trash the Search and Rescue on this one too? Did they mess up so your dragging me into this? You're a real piece of work.

Pray for W and Our Troops

There is a saying about deer...

When you see one you better watch for the next couple because those are the ones you could hit...

Early morning is a prime time for deer to be grazing near the highway, etc...

We live in a somewhat rural area (although that's changing) and I'm always worried when my daughter is out driving at night like she does so much. I was out last night near where her boyfriend's parents live and a deer ran in front of me.

It had nothing to do with you dis-agreeing with me and many others.

It had to do with you not reading the posts and making wild assumptions that were clearly incorrect.

As with anything time brings out all the information and the more information that comes out clearly points out that your assessments and opinions were way off target.

You also want to defend LE, our government, etc like it is something your just supposed to do. Once you are old enough you will understand things differently.

You know, I never thought about that. You could well be right. Just one more thing to add to a long list of things to be thankful for throughout my life. Thanks for the insight.

We literally have herds of deer right within our communities. We see them daily - morning and evening. It is nice to see but they do raise concerns for accidents, etc...

Not to mention the gators, etc...

My husband is an insurance readjuster, so I see that kind of stuff a lot!

My husband and I were interested in one house to buy several years ago. One of the things we are insisting on is a place to garden. The home owner told us about a neighbor who insisted on feeding the deer in her yard. Our interest dropped immediately.

So LE is wrong, our government is wrong....

Another Ted Kyszenski in the making. Now I know why you don't have cable. Living in a cabin plotting schemes?

I understand the family rented a plane and they went and found the vehicle. It's a shame the troopers down there did no put in an effort to locate the vehicle.

I discussed the following with a MD wildlife official.

Perhaps hunters-in-training could practice shooting herds of deer with fluorescent paint-balls. He did not laugh!!! Apparently that idea was considered but abandoned because deer shed their coats & would lose the paint.

How dumb is that?- during the dark winter dusk & twilight is when we need to see them cavorting at the side of the road(s). WHILE THEY HAVE THEIR WINTER COATS.

They did not; a highway worker found the car at 3:30 and called NCHP, who called a diving team.

The helicopter was flying around, doing a search, and happened upon the scene when the highway patrol got to the scene.

That's unbelievable...

Just when I think I have seen it all...FR never disappoints there is always someone ready to say the most uneducated and insane response.

I certainly don't live in a cabin (however Abraham Lincoln did) and I am certainly a patriot for this great country. I am proud to be part of a family line that has had relatives in our armed services all the way back to the American Revolution. So please don't even go there with that.

My point about SAR and LE is they do make mistakes, a lot of them and it costs lives...every day. And the shame is that they keep making the same mistakes based on bad assumptions, etc.

I know the people in trenches works their butts off and they should they are paid to do a professional job but many in the chain of command make horrible mistakes. I am sure if you were or your family were a victim of such a bad decision you would have a different view.

Opinions always come down to perspective.

I don't sit around and criticize our govt or LE...I think when mistakes are made they should be discussed, resolved and hopefully not happen again.

I suggest you read through the Kim family threads.

There are variations that are being reported.

Howlin has an opinion based on her local sources.

There have been four reports that I have heard about or have read.

1) DOT worker was investigating scene and came across the car. - The question is why was the DOT worker on the scene
2) A helicopter rented by the family found the car and called it in
3) A helicopter rented by the family found the car at the same time DOT did
4) The uncle and another relative found the car

It is mostly likely what Howlin states but the facts will come out in the next few days.

I suggest that you may be posting to a member of LE, or the spouse of one, and I don't take insults thrown at all LE lightly. You have a giant ego-driven attitude problem...
