Found in a NC swamp. No foul play...believe to be an auto accident. Prayers for their family. They looked like a loving, happy couple.

We need to see where Traffic Collision came from. Hopefully the reporter reported what was reported from 911 services or HP...wherever it came from.

My suspicion is that the driver fell asleep at the wheel and the car went off the road. That's why I carry a bottle of caffine pills with me on long trips and regularly use them. I'll feel miserable afterwards but I'll be alive.

It says it appears that they tapped their breaks before leaving the road

Link to that report?

It seems it's being reported a lot of different ways:

From News 14:

Someone called 911 on Thursday morning to report a wreck near the same location, but emergency officials couldn't locate a crashed car, North Carolina Highway Patrol Lt. Everett Clendenin said.

CBS News:

North Carolina highway patrol said a 911 call was made near the time and
location of the crash site but authorities failed to find any evidence of a crash, reports CBS News correspondent Meg Oliver.

From New York Daily:

A Nash County dispatcher in North Carolina took a 911 call Thursday morning reporting a car crash. Fire and rescue personnel came, but no one found the vehicle.

A highway worker doing repairs on a nearby bridge yesterday saw luggage floating, then spotted the outline of the car in the creek about 3:30 p.m., according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

I suggest you re-read post 261 that was addressed to you earlier today.

I don't see anywhere in there where it says "they tapped their brakes."

Rocky Mount is about 225 miles from Myrtle Beach or roughly a 3 1/2-hour drive. Stone said speeding does not seem to have been a factor and that it

"appeared the brakes were tapped slightly"

before the car left the road.

6th paragraph down after the date heading.

Thank you. It seems like a reported "crash" is in all three reports. A crash implies to me more than running off the road, a contact between a car and something outside that car. Another car or object (tree, guard rail, debris). And I think it's interesting that someone --unknown?--called 911. Maybe that car was responsible or involved somehow in the car running off the road and didn't want to get involved, but a flicker of conscience led them to call 911. Wouldn't that person's number show up in their records? But poor reporting can hide the actual details, so I guess it's too early to tell what happened. A real tragedy, though.

Nobody has reported any other car being involved.

Nitpicking..... Traffic collision just means it was a moving motorized vehicle, it does not imply two vehicles.

I realize that. It just seems to be implied to me by reports of a crash. That's why I agreed with what Lancey Howard was saying. So either I'm just wrong in thinking a crash implies contact with something outside of their car (which does not necessarily mean another car) or it's poor reporting or maybe just not yet knowing what the facts are yet.

The pilot from Executive Helicopters said the car had a sunroof. I wonder if they tried to escape that way? I was under the impression the roof of the car was under about a foot of water?

and nobody has said specifically that is was a single car accident.

Obviously there must a witness somewhere...hopefully they will be tracked down.

I am not here to debate the precise meaning of the word. That phrase for a lot of people would imply two vehicles colliding. That's all...trying to explain why people might assume it involved more than one car.

Easy misunderstanding.

At the same time it does not mean it was a single car accident either.

We will have to wait and see what is said.
