NEW YORK — Frantic family members are pleading for help in the search for a South Carolina husband and wife who seem to have vanished on their way to New York City last week.

Wayne and Dianne Guay, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., were expected in the Ridgewood section of Queens on Thursday night for an early holiday visit, said Daniel Rodriguez, their son-in-law. They were expected to make a 4 a.m. start that morning and drive straight north to their former neighborhood.

The family rented a helicopter to do its own 50-mile sweep around Myrtle Beach, said Rodriguez, called 100 area hospitals and scores of police departments up and down Interstate 95, according to The New York Post.

My theory is that they are being held by a timeshare salesman and he won't let them go until they agree to purchase something.

Who's the guy? i.e. what does he represent, and what does he do for a living? Does he know the Clinton's? Is he affilliated with the Clinton's? If so, they, like Vince Foster, may just be gone.

Very strange. It could simply be that they ran off the road, even on I-95 or any major interstate. I was driving through SC once and looked over into a wooded area and saw a tractor trailer that had plunged into the woods and was barely visible behind a screen of trees. Turned out the driver had fallen asleep and the truck had simply gone in a straight line while the highway curved. Fortunately, it was a forest of young trees and the truck had just carved itself a path and he was not seriously injured. But the point is that even on an interstate, things can happen. People go into retention ponds all the time down here in Florida, and they are often not found for quite some time.

However, it would be interesting to know how valuable the coin collection was and who knew about it in advance.

Two guys in my area went missing like this and they found them several months later in their vehicle submerged in a small lake.

I thought I heard they were carrying rare coins (they were collectors) and a large amount of cash.

Not sure if they were carrying the coins. The coins were reported missing from their home by their daughter who flew down to the house on Friday.

Hopefully they will be found soon.

“We think there’s foul play involved because he had a lot of cash, coins and Christmas presents in the back seat,” said Megan Liendo, 27, the couple’s daughter.

New York City police are assisting in a multi-state search for the couple.

The family spoke with 1010 WINS and they fear the couple may have been involved in an accident or foul play. Police have now echoed that concern and the FBI is expected to get involved Monday.

The family believes they were traveling with thousands of dollars in cash and Christmas presents. Family members say Wayne is diabetic and attempts to reach their cell phone have gone unanswered.

They're Wayne and Dianne Guay. Police say they're from South Carolina and were heading to New York when they disappeared. They were last spotted at the Shell Station in Lady Smith on Wednesday. Their daughter is now passing out fliers hoping someone will recognize them. She says this has been a nightmare for her and it's not like her parents to not call.

Police say the couple was driving a white four-door 2003 Mazda3 with South Carolina license plate number 732-RZZ.

LOL..Very possible. While we were there (Myrtle Beach) during Thankgiving week, leaving Mammy's Kitchen, a salesman followed us almost to our car trying to pitch a sale.

Here's a link to the Myrtle Beach fish wrap with more info....http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/mld/myrtlebeachonline/16215138.htm

The Guays usually stop at the Shell gas station in Ladysmith, Va. – about halfway between Richmond and Fredricksburg. After looking at the station’s surveillance camera tape, however, family members were unable to spot the couple.

Family members say they’ve chartered a helicopter to help search for the couple.

They are focusing their search with helicopters over NC and SC. They never made it to the Shell Station - it seems however it was a planned stop on their trip.
