The "Celeste Aida" aria requires the tenor to reach and sustain some pretty high notes.

You missed the point of my quip in #2:

That is true of Verdi's "Aida" -- but...

They were performing Franco Zeffirelli's "Aida."

One of the foremost experts on Opera is none other than Rudy Giuliani. Perhaps if he gets elected POTUS we can expect great Opera and Classical Music at the White House.

Drat!

I thought that the reference to Franco Zeffireli was to him as the producer of a certain version or staging of the Verdi "Aida." Didn't realize he had written his own opera concerning the same dramatic story line using the same title for the work and for the tenor aria.

Rudy was a regular patron of the wonderful little Amato Opera in New York. That is definitely a sign of an opera lover.

Well count me as one who loves Alagna! My dvd of his Romeo & Juliet is nigh worn through I've played it so many times. Loved him in the Elixir of Love, loved Angela in it as well. And more than once I've heard of his being very amiable when patrons have encountered him on his way in or out of a performance.

His recently released dvd of his performance of Alfano's Cyrano is another treat. He's done much for little known French opera for which I'm also grateful.

The La Scala gang has always been known for being rude, it is too bad he let them win.

We ladies like hotties, too.

And Roberto Alagna is a real hotsy totsy. The photo above doesn't do him justice.

Swoon~~~~~
