A retired city sanitation worker and his wife mysteriously vanished while driving from South Carolina to visit their family in Queens.

Wayne Guay, 57, and his wife, Dianne, 55, are believed to have left their house early Thursday in Myrtle Beach, where they retired after living for years in Ridgewood, Queens. But their desperate daughter Megan Guay yesterday said the pair - who have three children and two grandkids - never arrived at her sister's home in Ridgewood.

My guess is that if they made this trip several times a year that they usually left at the same time, stopped at the same places for meals and to fill up the tank.

Good observation. It seems the FBI is not involved unless there are minor children missing.

At the same time, there is a huge coordinated search & rescue underway for "three experienced hikers missing on Mt. Hood" Now there's an unforseen misadventure (Sarc).

In fact, I know some people who are not psychics that tried to warn us & no one listened.

Me too.

I remember myself I couldnt' sleep all night. Up and down, felt like something was wrong, disturbed is the word I'm looking for. I was up the entire night, weird.

I refer you to James Randi's site debunking this stuff at http://www.randi.org

James Randi begins on the premise that he is a skeptic. . .but he has always assumed the impossibilities of 'the psychc'; and his investigations are no more than a personal testimony to his determination to confirm his belief in the Randi Psychic is Bunk theory.

His investigations; while they bear honest asssesments; are nonetheless, in many cases a 'truth stretched or shaped' to meet his core belief. His investigations bring one no more to a higher 'truth of the matter' than do those investigations done by a 'true believer' who begins - and ends - with a confirmation of psychic reality.

What IS necessary is an unbiased and open - but discerning - mind when approaching 'psychic/paranormal' research (as is required for any honest, credible inquiry/research, for that matter,of course). All to say, that James Randi as a disbeliever gets one no further to the 'truth of the matter' than the researcher who is already convinced that all psychic phenomena is genuine; and is determined to prove just that.

Meantime, there ARE numerous books that discuss well-researched/well documented laboratory experiments where 'statistical probabilities' are challenged by their results.

We cannot discount the role of 'observer' here as well (as per quantum physics/Heisenberg Principle etc. . .) which in itself. . .leads one to what might be described as seemingly 'paranormal' - if not mystical - considerations; if not translated as unreal. . .or just 'erroneous'.

I mean really we have been traveling this route our whole life and look what we did.

Yes, added to confusing roadways/changes etc. . .can be 'other factors'. I do not have diabetes; but I know what I can do. . .when my blood-sugar takes a turn for 'low'. . .(!)

That said; whatever turn of events have taken place here; they seem to be beg 'dire results'. . .(again, I would try and consult a psychic for additional 'insights' here.)

The pictures here can only make one sad. . .and angry. I hope these have gone beyond local media as well.

" I hope these have gone beyond local media as well."

It's gone beyond just South Carolina and NY media as it's been covered by at least FOX national and ABC National. I had posted it in the News forum here but it was sent over to Chat.

There's a video at the site link below. The daughter is now in South Carolina.

Even if James Randi were totally biased when testing these claims the agreed-to protocols are fully accepted by the testee(psychic, douser, et al). In fact, the testee helps in setting up the trial. None have yet succeeded in producing any but negative results. Of course many blame it on JR's bad vibes.

People believe what they want to believe regardless of the facts. Much like Libs.

Of course many blame it on JR's bad vibes.

Daresay, some would rather be famous in Randi's book; than be right. . .and as well, 'bad vibes' cannot be discounted as problematic. . .goes to same problem as mentioned earlier, encountered by one who engages in experiment with biased outcome 'vibes' - so to speak. Be it the disbeliever. . .or the the confirmed believer. Experimentally, neutrality is the desired and necessary, starting point.

ANYway. . .volumes out there beyond Randi; for those interested. . .with definitive stats and experimental data that should challenge one; if not moved otherwise. . .

But more to your point here; people are comfortable with varying levels of belief/acceptance of reality albeit; thaat which confirms their own comfort zone.

(. . .the very word 'coincidence' simply gives meaning. . .and 'meaningless' to a confluence of events/experiences that are otherwise baffling by there synchronicity. Naming it - naming this occurance is the beginning and end of story for most; and that is fine. The unexpectedness; the challenge of a 'coincidence'. . .the mystery, is put to rest.

Whereas for others; 'coincidence' might appear a red flag that challenges ones idea of reality; may be seen as an challenge or invitation by which they are drawn into further exploration.)

There is no 'right/wrong' in the response here. Just a choice.

Thanks for the background here. I just returned from being out of the country; and while I caught Fox News; it was only 'on occasion'. . .

Saw a brief segment about this on TV this morning and hoped to follow it to its outcome. Prayers up for the Guay family and positive results in their search.

" ... WPDE has learned that there is a report of a white car found in a swampy area near Rocky Mount, North Carolina, off Interstate 95. That's less than an hour east of Raleigh.

We're told the car matches the description of the white Mazda 3 the Guays were driving. ..."

It's not a happy ending but if there is any good news in this story it is that there was no foul play involved.

Yes. . .relieved that it was not by another's hand. . .that it was an accident. But tragic and so very sad for this couple and their families.

(It is strange, in a way; how we get caught up. . .they pop into our lives through news bulletins on our TV screens and if we identify with them; they stay with us. . .in this case; they just seemed to be such nice people and with a great family. . .and not deserving of such a brutal and untimely end.)
