"For me to be in country music to begin with was not who I was. I liked Martie and Emily's playing, but I did not grow up liking country music. And I guess I was ignorant to the fact that the stereotypes behind country music were true and it was disappointing. And so at this stage, I can never... I would be cheating myself and not setting a good example for my children to go back to something that I don't wholeheartedly believe in. So I'm pretty much done. They've shown their true colors. I like lots of country music, but as far as the industry and everything that happened... I couldn't want to be farther away from that." Natalie Maines 1/30/06
Somethine tells me not to hold my breath waiting for them to withdraw their names from "country" categories. Hypcrits with absolutely no integrity!

The Grammys are run by liberals where they honor drug addicts and other assorted low-lifes. Let's see how the Chicks do in the Country Music Awards.

Seeing the two threads on the Chicks and the fact that they won the top awards says something about the Grammys.

The Dixie Chicks admitted that their awards were people using their "free speech"...which means they were given the award as a political statement and not because they were musically deserving of it.
That is fine, but they really should just change the name of the award to the Shammies as it's a sham award. Truth in advertising that way.
