When GP mentions the Brits' supposedly greater class and intelligence, does she take into account that she might be mingling in a rarefied circle, away from the ahem, more "common" crowd?
I mentioned this to my former roommate who's British and now married to a Russian (naturalized American) citizen.
She laughed and said, "Most of my countrymen are coarse and perverse!"

I doubt she's moving in a rarefied circle. In fact, I think that she mainly socializes with the jet set and other celeb groups. Not the aristocracy and Royalty that she sees herself as equal to.
