Slippery slope? Incrementalism?
Nah, can't happen.

That's right; create a strawman instead of addressing the behavior. God forbid anyone actual has to be a parent.

It is scary that such educated people can be so STUPID.
For 50 years, there was no advertising of hard liquor on TV. Did that stop people from being stupid with it?

"Inappropriate advertising contributes to many kids' ills, from obesity to anorexia, to drinking booze and having sex too soon, and Congress should crack down on it, the American Academy of Pediatrics says."
Seems like advertising has the same affect on many adults.
Maybe a better role for government, if there is one, is to educate children about all the messages they are bombarded by. Not in the sense of one is right, or one is wrong, but how their responses are being manipulated.
Or better yet educate the adults, and let them educate their children.

I'm not surprised. The AAP is the same group of docs who encouraged doctors to ask firearms specific questions to their young patients to determine if their was a risk of violence or abuse in the home and to determine if a child would potentially be violent. Promoting the nanny state for sure.

Yeah well, this is also from the aap website at
http://www.aap.org/family/tipp-firearms.htmAdvice to parents
The best way to keep your children safe from injury or death from guns is to NEVER have a gun in the home.
- Do not purchase a gun, especially a handgun.
- Remove all guns present in the home.
- Talk to your children about the dangers of guns, and tell them to stay away from guns.
- Find out if there are guns in the homes where your children play. If so, talk to the adults in the house about the dangers of guns to their families.

Inappropriate advertising contributes to many kids' ills, from obesity to anorexia, to drinking booze and having sex too soon, and Congress should crack down on it, the American Academy of Pediatrics says. Inappropriate and immoral EDUCATIONAL materials are also to be held accountable for sexualizing children. SEICUS and those who subscribe to the sex positive agenda WANT kids sexually active.
It has been considered their birthright (at least since the texts of Reich and Kinsey). They consider abstinence to be an unhealthy suppression of sexual desires. If it feels good, do it.
Certainly major companies have also behaved irresponsibly but the Supreme Court has just said that parents do not have the right to demand that they are the sole source of sexual (and moral) teaching for their kids.
The institutions are corrupting the young. It is by liberal design. Ain't no accident.

I've often wondered how parents explain what viagra is to their little kids.
