“She’s burned real bad, her face, her nose, her ears, her neck, her whole chest, some of her thigh is burned, her back, they say its bad to where she’s gonna have to be in there for a while,” said Krystal Payne, the victim’s daughter.

First of all, how on earth could anybody call the woman who poured and lit the gasoline “the victim”?!?

Secondly, it’s always fun to google somebody’s name when it appears in a news story. Here’s a bit of a speech given by “Krystal Payne” at a pro-choice seminar:

“I wish I could say I am happy to be here as a representative of the Fredericton Sexual Assault Crisis Center, but I am not. I am disappointed that we all need to be here…We also understand all too well that the women calling our crisis line are often recent victims of extreme trauma. Physically hurt and emotionally raw they are confronted by a myriad of choices that can seem bewildering and frightening.”

I guess one choice for mom is lighting her mean old man on fire for the crime of arguing. Just remember to stand back a little further next time, you dingbat.

If (big if) the writer is correct and Payne is actually one or the other of the burned people's daughter, she could be the daughter of the man.

He is actually the victim of the assault, so it could be the correct term.
