The warrant charged him with armed robbery and ADW. Why shouldn't the police assume he was armed and dangerous?

"The warrant charged him with armed robbery and ADW. Why shouldn't the police assume he was armed and dangerous? But OBSERVE first. Too often the late night dynamic entry is the first choice of action when it should be toward the end. This kid wasn't some drug kingpin with tons of bodyguards and security systems. He was some jerk. Arrest him somewhere else or try knocking first.

They should, but they shouldn't execute someone for being charged with armed robbery. that is the job of courts. if he was so dangerous, they should have staked out his apartment and arrested him as he was leaving, and under controled conditions.
Using swat to break down doors to serve arrest warrants too often results in killing unarmed people. Often the wrong unarmed people.

Assuming he was armed and dangerous doesn't mean he should be shot right away......
