Michigan didn't even win its own conference. How is it logical to have a repeat of the Ohio State-Michigan game?

However, logic rarely matters to voters in the polls, many of whom are motivated by petty regional and parochial prejudices. These prejudices screwed Auburn in its case for the NC game two years ago.

Hope Florida fares better; they certainly deserve to be the NC championship game.

Personally I think Florida should be in the title game. Having said that, I just voted for Florida's blocked field goal kick against South Carolina as the Pontiac Game Changing Play of the year. Let's face it, without that blocked field goal, Florida wouldn't be in contention for the title.

As much as I dislike Florida as a school I have to agree. No way should Michigan get two chances. If there were a playoff and it ended up that way that would be fine. But with this system Florida has earned a chance to play.

Well ... maybe after the season you should petition for a rule change. But the way the BCS is set up, the title game is between the two best teams. It's the way the rankings are set up; it's the way the rules work. Explicitly. No ambiguity. It's what was agreed to prior to the season.

If Michigan is the better team in the eyes of the voters and in the computer rankings, they go; and they deserve to go. And I object to voters casting their ballots strategically. They should rank the teams according to the instructions they've been given from the start -- not who they want to go to the title game.

Al Gore won the popular vote in 2000. Many people say an injustice was done, because the electoral college is antiquated. Would you agree with that, too? Or would you say that Bush won under the rules that were in place at the time, and that's what matters?

Florida's coach is a wuss and a whiner and for that reason alone I hope Florida heads elsewhere. If Michigan comes out on top, they go. You and he can have all the air time you want quarrelling with the rules in the off-season. Don't be a poor loserman.

why would anybody, except a Michigan fan,
want to see two teams from the same conference,
play in the big one?

Michigan is probably the better team, but Florida did what it needed to deserve a shot, and I am a gator hator! This year really calls for a 4 team playoff, at least.

If they put Michigan in the title game it makes the first OSU-Michigan game absolutely meaningless.

Besides, I want a scenario where Florida beats OSU and Michigan beats USC in the Rose Bowl, thus allowing both teams to proclaim themselves #1 and further throwing the BCS into chaos.

Bring on the NCAA football playoffs!

I feel confident that Michigan is a better team than Florida. However, Michigan had their shot and lost and the game was not as close as the score indicated. Either way, I don't see the game as being close. OSU should beat UF by 17 and I would think UM by 10.

"Michigan didn't even win its own conference. How is it logical to have a repeat of the Ohio State-Michigan game?"

It is completely logical if you believe that OSU and Michigan are the two best teams in the nation. Wether either team won it's conference is completely irrelvent.

"Florida's national title chances rely on voters"

If they're all Florida voters, I'd say they are pretty much screwed.

Michigan is the better team.Michigan had to go into Ohio state 1 day after the DEATH of a beloved coach, and lost by only 3 points to the number 1 team in the country. The Gators lose to number 11 Alburn and not only that Michigan is rated number three in the country. When usc lost yesterday they claimed the Rose Bowl which Lsu was already invited to. May I ask you one question if you kick out number two from a rematch , where do you put the number two team in the country? kick out Lsu , oh that is really rich. Michigan I am sure would be glad to play the chicken gators who played an easier conference this year in a playoff. But unless I am wrong and do not know anything you do not kick out the number three rated team to go to number four, because the gators want to play. So does Michigan and they are the better team by far.Michigan would eat the gators for lunch and spit them out for supper. If the gators get in this is fixed to the hilt and besides that I will laugh all day after Ohio state goes Gator hunting. They will be picking up the gator skins from here to Fl.Michigan is the only team that on a neutral field can beat the buckeye's , face it!

For a rematch, Michigan would have to be clearly above any other team. Had UF lost yesterday, that would have been the case, and Michigan of course would have deserved to replay OSU.

But the logic should be, if it is close between two teams, the team that has not had a shot against OSU should play. That's why UF deserves it.

I'm a Michigan alum and mostly a UM fan (been at Penn State for 13 years, so she's kinda rubbed off on me). In fairness, I think Fla. should go and will go. Fla. will go because OSU-UF and UM-USC are "sexier" matchups for TV.

I agree in that I think Florida should be in the National Title game.

However....

I don't think they will garner enough votes nor have a sizable enough advantage in the computers to overtake Michigan.

I think Michigan is a better team than Florida so with equal records and similar difficulty of schedule I have no problem with Michigan being ranked number 2.

FWIW on the Gator Message boards the word is out that UF has jumped Michigan in the AP poll.

Being a firm supporter of another SEC team and the Gators being one of the two arch rivals we lost to this year - I still vote for them. They *do* deserve it. However, I won't be surprised if they don't make it. SEC sometimes seem to be the red headed step child nationally.
