The Dragonflies' Lair~Thread XXXII~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I think I do remember this one Bob, it's as good now as it was in 2004.

It was originally dedicated to a certain particular poet, if you catch my drift.

I've read the poem three times now, and it grows more dear every time.
It's a beautiful poem.

Did you write it for me?

Erm ... it was originally dedicated to a builder of vehicles with an odd number of wheels.

I consciously tried to capture a mechanistic meter similar to Poe's tintinnabulation poem.

I have not yet written a poem to you specifically, but I have observed that many others have ...

Ooh--Ups

The sun’s shining brightly,
The dew has all gone,
God works on His time,
My alarm was not on.

A world perfect at seven,
With birdsong is great,
But I’m rumpled and drowsy,
And going in late.

God’s in His heaven,
And everything’s fine,
Except for the faces,
When I show up at nine.

Another Night Far Away

Soft, the falling drifting snow in this ebon night
silent except for the whisper of a zephyr’s kiss
enrobes the landscape in a monochromatic dream

With a magic all its own, more than it might seem
we walk amid a swirling cast wondering what we miss
on this star lit night so perfect and oh so truly right

And there, in a common rough wood manger such a sight
we find warmth in a glance, and know this night’s bliss
there in silence beneath that star’s pointing guiding beam

Your poem is a gift most appreciated, and I will keep it as such. Thank you.
