I don't know what part of the country you are talking about but Mounds was two pieces in the nineteen fifties in Texas!

We have had the reverse happen to one of my favourite chocolate bars in England.

When I was a child Cadbury's Bourville their dark chocolate used to come in 2 thin bars which I preferred being dark chocolate. Also for cooks it was easier to melt.

I suppose it was more expensive to make probably something to do with the process mould etc being different than the other bars. Now they come in one chunky bar no doubt weighing less than the 2 thin ones.
