Actually, the little feathered freeloaders do provide relatively cheap entertainment, especially if you can buy seed in bulk.

You know, back in the 50's, when we were kids, we used to spend a lot of time in winter looking out the window at the bird feeder. Cardinals, especially, looked nice against a snowy landscape.

Couple years ago we were at the old home place in rural VA when an ice storm struck, no electricity for 3 days. No TV, no Nintendo operational, what a delight! OTOH, most of that part of the county got bombed every evening after about the first day.

LOL!! I have to agree. We had a fun time one afternoon watching a squirrel hanging by his back toes, raiding our bird feeder!
