Winter weather check-in from the southern marches, while I still have power ...

There's a loud and nasty thunderstorm sitting over Austin that woke me up at 8:15am or so. The general line of thunderstorms is moving northeast, but this sucker keeps redeveloping in place, over Austin.

Temperatures have dropped ~28 degrees in the last 3.5 hours, from 68 degrees at 4am to 40 degrees as I type. Nearly 5 inches of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours in parts of town, and we have flash flooding warnings up.

It's supposed to rain all day today and tonight, and then freeze Sunday ...

Actually, the main temp drop (20° or so) happened over about an hour and a half, from 5:00 am to 6:30 am... it's been dropping more slowly since then.

Heh, David got back just in time for winter! He certainly didn't see much of it when he was home for Christmas!
