Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
I think Ramius is still in SF? I don't know where he is!
We're OK - I think sustained wind is around 20 gusts may have been in the 30s? I don't know. Looking forward to daylight, we turned the horses out with some piles of hay, to get them out from under the trees. They seem more content out there than they are just hearing the wind and branches hitting the building... And I'm more relaxed because I don't feel like I have to be out there with them to keep them settled if something does break. It's not raining, that helps.
ecurbh his napping on the couch with Homer on his lap.
I'm flying out, back home today. I hope the storminess doesn't foul the flight schedules too much... or make for one of those "entertaining" landing sequences.

Hullo - lost cable and power for a bit but it's back on now. Highest gusts have been maybe in the 30s. Waiting for daylight. I want to go out for pancakes.
We lost power for a sec, didn't we? Man, it's loud out there.
And I got paged alllll night every time anything at work went up or down. Guess they're having power fluctuations, too.
Fun.
I'm tired.
We lost cable for longer than we've lost power so far this morning. We saw some transformers blowing off - on the 'orizon. Some people are without power this morning...
At least it hasn't been raining... oh wait. nevermind.
But at least we have cable! That's all that matters... ;-)
I'm wondering just what kinda mess I'm going to find at work.
I thought I heard trees falling, too. Wonder if a lot of roads are blocked off.

'Morning!
Dunno. Haven't heard anything that sounded like trees, but I have heard a few big branches break. Sitting in here it's kindof a tenuous moment when we hear something crack... wondering if it's about to come through the roof.
Man...what a face!
Don't make me start a new thread :~)

Yeah...I know. And I'm jumping for your sake!
Is the worst of the wind over now, or do we have this to look forward to all day?
Yer gonna get hurt if you keep that up...
It might blow all day, but the good news is it might be over by tonight.
There's a bigger storm coming overnight Thurs/Friday, but I'm not talking about that yet.
So this *wasn't* the big storm they were talking about? Eek!
And is there some law that says all storms have to come under cover of darkness? What's up wit dat?
I'm just sayin'...
Here's the hour by hour... I think those are sustained wind forecasts... we can take 30s, but branches will break. It's the gusts to 50 they keep talking about that worry me. But we haven't seen that.
Next spring, when we get twisters, they won't be sympathetic to you...
...haven't seen one yet.
Wish they'd send some of that rain this way. We're still down almost 8" for the year.
Why does it look like the wind is increasing over the course of the day? Don't we get a break before the storm tomorrow?
Not fair.
You'll have to ask God that question :~)
