The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Posted on 12/01/2006 12:55:15 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Omigoodnessomigoodnessomigoodness!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!

I am just so plumb tickled I could squeal!

Just back from the dairy.

It's only 20 min down the road. I am so happy. They've got a quality outfit. Small scale, grass fed, nice folks, nice dogs, permitted, inspected, and a good price. I'm just so excited I don't know what to make first! Yogurt, creme fraiche, keifer... wheee!

So, um, ..... *urp*

I have decided that for lunch I will make macaroni and cheese made with my new milk and some equally good cheddar from another nearby dairy.

I tell you, the only thing that I really *love* about living out here on the east coast is all the family farms. I love supporting them. I love what they represent. I love the traditions. I love eating local. I *love* the fresh food.

I may have told you about White Egret Farm outside of Austin? Steve and I would go out there and buy goat milk and cabrito. They had it in a fridge/freezer out on the side of the highway at the end of their drive (the drive being about a mile and half long.)

It was the honor system...you just put the cash in a metal lockbox attached to the fence by the gate.

It was cool.

Does that applause gif look hinky to ya'll? The animation is goobered up when I view it on FR. But when I go directly to the image url, it's fine.

Looks good to me too...thanks!

I'm always so fascinated by those two men...one on the right just applauding hysterically and the one of the left just sitting there looking sour.

Heh. I haven't accomplished much yet today, but at least I know what molecule fragment I'm seeing in the mass spec.

Just multitasking. :)

I haven't made the trip out to the compost pile yet but I am making progress on the laundry.
