The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I'm having a day where I feel really stoopid. I've been going nuts trying to figure out problems with three Optiplex GX270s, all with intermittent weirdness type problems - shutdowns, time and date issues, lockups. All passed the nearly useless little Dell diagnostics routines, all worked just fine a lot of the time.

*Finally* opened the cases this afternoon, and all three have domed capacitors on the motherboard. Doh! I should have checked that *ages* ago. *slaps forehead*

All are out of warranty, too. Fun. They would have been out of warranty even if I'd figured this out a few weeks ago when the problems started, but even so...makes me kinda mad at myself.

We have Brown Cow here.

I like their cream-on-top kind. Not lowfat, but MAN it's good. Had one as part of breakfast this morning. Vey tasty.

I wish we had a Trader Joe's. You'd think with Olympia's reputation, there would be a natural foods store on every corner, but nooo.

I got to spend my whole morning with someone staring over my shoulder as I debugged. I hate, hate, hate that. And it was literally all morning. And I had meant to come in and get to work on the other task I was assigned weeks ago and haven't done... got around to that at 1:30, at 2 got dragged off to a high-level design meeting. Oh well.

This is true. However, we are not all likely to do it tonight.

Didn't hail for long...I could hear it bouncing off thesunroom. I haven't heard anything bouncing off the door yet - and I've got that nifty storm dooor.

Two good pieces of information, short duration and no stormdoor damage!!

It's supposed to hail here tonight as well. My car is under the carport, but that may not help.

I don' want my car to go through like it did last summer, over $3000 worth damage.

Our weathergirl must be very happy since she has pre-empted 'Jericho" (no great loss) and "Criminal Minds" (one of our favorite shows). So I'm watching "American Ballroom Dancing" (sigh) LSA

Doesn't it make you want to sign up for Arthur Murray classes? :)

My TV has that PIP (picture in a picture) thing so I'm watching a movie with the weather radar in the PIP.
