Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
On the other hand, I applied to the community college and requested my transcript from CCAF, so I'm at least on the way to taking some classes.
Wish it didn't look as though most of the really interesting ones are during the day. I can prolly justify taking some computer related ones during the day so long as I make up the time or don't get paid for full time, but the ones I'm most interested in aren't 'puter related.
I really really like living in a free state, where you can buy likker at the grocery store. On Sunday even. Or at the gas station.
Whuh? You got another one?
I'm not sure what the deal was in Vermont. There were only a few liquor stores, but they were open on Sundays and all.
But you could only get beer and wine at the grocery.
In CO, I can't remember...you couldn't get wine at the grocery, could you? Seems kind of silly.
Oh, awesome! And once you're in the system it'll get easier. Plus if it's known you're taking a few computer classes, you'll get some slack as far as taking other courses - they'll just assume you're trying to get your degree and have to take fluff.
I'd recommend starting with one useful computer class and one fun class. Just to get into the swing of things.
I think I can guess where it's located.
And I don't wanna see it.
Nope, just beer. And in PA, you got wine and likker at the state store, and beer at licensed beer distributors. It was very socialist.
I guess. But if I really do switch...how much use is computer stuff gonna be?
I suppose database management / Access / basic programming type courses are useful in almost any field, though. Just to have a better understanding of how programs work.
Programming doesn't hurt to know. No matter what field, knowing a little about the systems you're using isn't bad. But if that's really not what you want... have you thought about volunteering at a hospital on weekends? It might give you an idea about whether you'd actually like nursing, without committing to classes.
Just for what it's worth..... Jeff Foxworthy's game show is hilarious: "Are you smarter than a fifth grader?" What a hoot!!
Volunteering in some way is a good idea regardless. I think they do four hour a week shifts - so someone can, for example, work just one evening or weekend. Probably require a background check, things being what they are these days, but I guess that's par for the course. Officially, the job I did for Catholic Charities required a background check.
Honestly, though, regarding nursing...I think I'd LOVE the coursework for anything medical, but I just don't know that I have the personality for the actual work. Even for nursing, where you're following orders to an extent, you need a lot of self-assurance, I'd say. And you need to be good with people. I don't think I'd fit the bill.
He has a game show?
That's gotta be purty funny.
But maybe you'd do better than you think. Or there's a niche you'd do well in - eldercare or pediatric nursing, say. Nursing is one career they can't get enough people for.
Try a four hour a week shift for a while and see! At the very least it'll be something else to do. You might meet a cute doctor, too...
It is. but it definately proves there's a difference between what you learn as a kid and what you use as an adult. Vey funny.
Let's see ... what's happened here in the Hobbit Hole since last you were here? Hmmm ...
I lost a job, but am testing the software consulting waters.
2Jedismom's husband graduated (yayyy!!!) and is interviewing with companies. We're hoping they can stay in Oklahoma, 'cause they like it there.
Corin's still living a Corin-type life, so there's that ... I'm just sayin' ...
Rosie moved to Washington State, and lives sorta-kinda-near Hair and ecurbh.
Overtaxed is very happy, 'cause NASCAR's back.
Osagebowman and LSAggie are still helping Gypsy keep the shire on the up-and-up ...
Haven't heard from the g'nads lately ...
SuziQ and SirKit are still working on their house, which will be an excellent advertisement for their mad skilz when they move back to the Southland.
Jen and Talon are excavating/redecorating/doing something down in the basement with the help of their puppies and cats.
Got me a new laptop :Just started reading The Hobbit again.
Same old Gulf. LoL
Actually, I can think of three meanings off the top of my head! But one of them isn't appropriate for family television...
Lots of drive-by posting on my part these days - things sorta quiet here, which is not a bad thing.
How are things in Tiger Country?
