The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Hopefully!

My cats ain't right. I have the carrier out and was wiping it out and putting a blanket in it, and do they run in fear like you'd think they would? No - they're getting in the way while I'm trying to do it.

Mmkay.

Well, we're off, if I can find the tube of medication I found a minute ago and put in a good place. *sigh*

It's in the planter box on the south side of thehouse. At first I thought it was Miss Peege...a pretty black cat. But it had orange eyes as wasn't quite as large. It was lounging on my catnip bed looking happy.

Joseph suggests you go to froogle.com and put in the names of the games and the platform name to check for those games. I just checked and there's a Jedi Knight for the X Box for $29.99 and I think it was free shipping.

We still have a lot of snow on the south side of the house, but we got hit pretty hard. You go three blocks east of here and the snow is almost gone. I'm still waiting for the big melt they have promised today! LSA

Click for Shawnee Mission, Kansas Forecast

I'm going to wash the car later on this afternoon.

We got about 5 inches. There are still some icy spots, especially in the shade.

Cool looking! Are you doing this in a smoker, like you'd smoke a turkey? I like that "Christmas Cheddar" label.

Thanks. Yep, did it in the smoker but used only 3 pieces of charcoal for the fire then laid on some hickory chunks.

It only works for cheese when it's in the 20's outside as smallest smoldering fire raises the inside temp by 50-70 degrees. Once it hits 100 the cheese starts to sweat oil and around 110+ it will start to melt/deform.

Sounds like great gifts! I'm going to make some candy to send to my family's Christmas party next weekend. Each family gets a little something for a stocking for each child, but only up to the time they go off to college. This year, I'm doing homemade candy for each one of them; probably a couple of chocolate lollipops. For a 'family' gift they can all enjoy at the party, I'm doing a tribute to our Granny and our Mama, by making Chocolate Covered Cherries. When you couldn't think of anything else to get Granny or our Mama, you could never go wrong with Chocolate Covered Cherries. I found the recipe for them on the Wilton cake and candy site. I think I'm going to look for a little bottle of Kirsch to soak the cherries in before I make the candy. Mmmm.

Well...it went OK, except that instead of putting my name on the waiting list when I got there, they waited until they had gotten all my information into the computer some twenty minutes later. Ugh.

So...another set of eye ointments and drops and, this time, a nutritional supplement that's supposed to help control future outbreaks. Tam was not impressed, but he's OK, except that Halvah is telling him off now for smelling funny.

Didn't catch her name - very young, very pretty. Her Dad apparently lives next door to us, pretty much. She was nice. Hopefully this new stuff will work faster!

And the supplement is pretty inexpensive. If it gives him the boost he needs to keep from getting this thing over and over, I'll keep that up.
