The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I GOT THROUGH to Mrsnad's phone.

Osage, if you're using the number that g'nad gave you just a few days ago, it's wrong...he gave it to me a long time ago and I had it in my cell phone and that's the number I used to call and I got through to their neighbor, Margaret, who said they are FINE. G'nad is at work and they don't have any power, Mrsnad was charging her phone at their neighbor's house who did have power and that is who I spoke to...Mrsnad wasn't there.

Margaret said it's bad...they got it bad.

Oh, we're ok here... temp is supposed to go above freezing for the first time since Monday morning, so businesses are trying to re-open. I'm not going in until tomorrow morning though; there's nothing going on at work that needs me risking an accident to get there this afternoon instead of tomorrow morning.

It's 26 here right now, they've closed schools again for tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow it'll get above freezing and melt some of this off.

Steve has his interview in Enid tomorrow morning...

Glad you got through to someone who can confirm they're OK. I sympathize with the mess they've got.

Heh heh...

Once, my parents were on their way to Florida and had a major accident. They weren't hurt, but it totaled their pickup and tore up their big travel trailer pretty bad. AAA got them to the closest town and they had to spend the night there. I called the local Baptist church...a tiny little church in a tiny little town) and told them about the situation. The pastor showed up and knocked on their motel room door, took 'em to supper, drove them where ever they needed to go!

The lady I spoke to...Margaret...she sounded tickled to hear from me and she didn't even know me! She talked to me like I was her family checking in!

Sure, go. :~)

We're about headed off to town for horse feed... It's quite a major step, neither of us has left the compound in over a week, lol.

Hurrah for being home!

I got home and spent forty five minutes washing dishes. That's half of my backlog. I hadn't washed 'em in... way too long. The basic upshot is Talon and I are discussing putting in a dishwasher.

Of course, if we do that, we really ought to replace the nasty and unsanitary countertop. And the aged and decrepit sink. And put in a garbage disposal. And do something about the ugly cabinets. And that border of wallpaper at the top of the barn red walls could go... so could the paint... and the hideous red linoleum.

LOL, too true! My parents once tried to replace the washer on a drippy faucet, only to end up in a six-year remodel of the entire house - new walls, new floors, new wiring, new plumbing, everything. All because the faucet turned out to obsolete, and one thing led to another...
