The Hobbit Hole XXXII - Sweet is the sound of falling rain
The Freeper Hobbit Hole Blog ^ | December 1, 2006

Posted on 12/01/2006 12:55:15 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

You're Spain!
You like rain on the plain, as well as interesting architecture and a diverse number of races and religions.  You like to explore a lot, but sailing, especially in large groups, never really seems to work out for you.  Beware of pirates and dictators bearing bombs.  And for heavens' sake, stop running around bulls!  It's just not safe!

I keep wondering when winter will hit us here. It's in the 40s and sunny now. But we haven't really had a nasty dose of wintry mix yet.

In the lefty blogosphere they're all saying that it's "proof" of global warming.

It can be very difficult to get a good picture, especially if nobody is helping with the horse. That's why I have about 200 pictures of Aki's nose, and three good ones of the rest of him.

How is your friend and Aki? Haven't heard about them for awhile!

I wouldn't worry about the roads, they're only predicting a couple inches, and it'll be clear by then.

If you want to worry, I'd worry that you're going to be pretty ripe by then if the power's been out, lol.

Wish you would just keep that wind up there in the Pacific Northwest!!

Well, the thing about wind is it doesn't stay in one place :~)

A way out here they've got a name for wind and rain and fire
The rain is Jack the fire is Joe and they call the wind Maria
Maria flows the stars around since the clouds're flying
Maria makes the mountains sound like cold wind out there dying
Maria Maria they call the wind Maria

I suppose I could always show up on Ben and Anne's doorstep at 0 dark thirty on Thursday morning with shower supplies and a load of laundry if need be. ;-)

If I pick up lattes or some such on the way there, maybe they'll even forgive me.

The most beautiful sound I ever heard:
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria . . .
All the beautiful sounds of the world in a single word . .
Maria, Maria, Maria, Maria . . .
Maria!

How do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?
How do you find a word that means Maria?
A flibbertijibbet! A will-o'-the wisp! A clown!

Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her
Many a thing she ought to understand
But how do you make her stay
And listen to all you say
How do you keep a wave upon the sand

Oh, how do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?

LOL! I see I'm not the only one with those problems! :)

Marl and Aki are both doing fine, just nothing newsworthy lately, which why there isn't much to say.

Speaking of horse pictures, I could never understand why they take those show pictures of gaited horses from that weird tilted angle. It looks like the photographer is about to stepped on. Is there some sort of ancient tradition I'm missing?

Not sure I know exactly what angle you mean, but maybe it's to exaggerate the gait. Everything about those horses is about exaggeration and drama.

Glad Marl and Aki are well :~)

~Dwarf plays the trump card~

Ave Maria
Gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Maria, gratia plena
Ave, ave dominus
Dominus tecum
Benedicta tu in mulieribus
Et benedictus
Et benedictus fructus ventris
Ventris tuae, Jesus.
Ave Maria

Ave Maria
Mater Dei
Ora pro nobis peccatoribus
Ora pro nobis
Ora, ora pro nobis peccatoribus
Nunc et in hora mortis
Et in hora mortis nostrae
Et in hora mortis nostrae
Et in hora mortis nostrae
Ave Maria
